CINCINNATI INFERNO @ FLIN FLON BOMBERS |
The Inferno jump out first as Athanasiou beats Logan Thompson for a 1-0 lead at 13:56 on the power play. Vladimir Tarasenko answers back as he wrists a shot through a screen past Connor Hellebuyck…..and it looked like the first period would end that way until Zach Whitecloud beats Thompson and a weak shot from inside the blue line at 19:57. The Inferno would take that momentum and Jake DeBrusk sneaks in on a breakaway and beats Thompson to give the Inferno a 3-1 lead. The game was played in the mud, with 42 blocked shots and ice was tight, but Jack Hughes deflects a Gabriel Landeskog shot past Hellebuyck to cut the score to 3-2 at the end of 2. Jack Hughes would score again on a questionable call against McDonagh on the power play and the game was tied 3-3……the next 10 minutes saw a ton of blocked shots and limited opportunities. MacKenzie Weegar would hit the post with less than 2 minutes left, and at the 19:01 mark Justin Faulk would beat Hellebuyck on a great feed from Jack Hughes and send the Bombers to the second round |
