As we moved thru the first it was a tag up play that lead to NJ getting on the board first. Tommy Wingels was in deep but was able to get out of the zone quickly, which allowed for Shea Weber to unleash the clapper which beat Louie Domingue glove side. Thru 1, 19-9 on the shots New Jersey leads 1-0. Ripon got on the board with its first on a sloppy defensive play by NJ. Davante Smith-Pelly was able to capitalize on the missed read which allowed him to get this game even. Off the ensuing faceoff the Grizzlies were able to answer back with a Kyle Turris to Tommy Wingels which quickly gave New Jersey back the lead at 2-1. After 2 two periods New Jersey still has the lead but Ripon has begun to put the pressure on the defense. Ripon gained some momentum midway through
\nthe 3rd and Boone Jenner was able to connect with Alex Pietrangelo for his 11th of the season and again tied this game up. Later in the 3rd Boone Jenner won the faceoff to Alexei Kuznetsov who found the back of the net very late and gave Ripon the 3-2 lead with minutes to go. New Jersey in under a minute was able to get the game back even with a superb effort by goal score Miikka Salomaki who now has 4 goals on the season. Ripon played their best hockey in the 3rd period but New Jersey\u2019s fire power kept them in the game and forced overtime. In overtime it was Jeff Skinner beating Louie Domingue to give the Grizzlies the win.Three Stars

Minneapolis took an uncharacteristic amount of penalties in this one, and Hampton capitalized with 2 goals on 5 Powerplay opportunities, plus another with the extra attacker on for a delayed call.<\/p>\n Minneapolis opened the scoring with 6 minutes left in the first period when Boyle (6) ripped a shot past the Hampton goaltender. Hampton didn’t wait long to even the score though, with McGinn getting his 7th of the year under 5 minutes later with the extra attacker on the ice for a delayed call, to send the game into the first intermission tied at 1.<\/p>\n Minneapolis would outscore Hampton 3-2 in the second despite being outshot 13-7 and spending 6 minutes shorthanded in the period. During the break coach Larry Murphy would try to calm his team down to hold onto the lead that they probably didn’t deserve in the first place.<\/p>\n Hampton would sense the weakness in the Deep Freeze despite trailing by a goal entering the 3rd period. The Blizzard score 3 consecutive goals in the first 8:30 of the 3rd period including yet another on the powerplay with Schenn in the box for roughing. Now trailing 6-4, Murphy is not happy and considers lacing up his own skates to try to get some defense out there in front of Cam Ward. He would pull his goaltender with about 2 minutes to play and Minneapolis would manage to pull within 1 on Daniel Sedin’s 6th of the year, but the game would end in a 6-5

Reimer would make 61 saves (yes, you read that correctly) on 62 shots from the Deep Freeze, stealing the game for Thunder Bay.<\/p>\n Minneapolis gets off to a strong start to begin the game, spending 7 of the first 12 minutes on the power play and mounting 15 shots on goal in the process. Reimer stands on his head and weathers the storm to keep the game tied at 0 even though Thunder Bay had yet to get a shot on goal through 12 minutes of play. They would get their first shot over 13 minutes in with Huberdeau in the box for tripping, but Cam Ward was still awake and there to make the save. Minneapolis finally broke through Reimer with Goligoski in the box serving 5 minutes for cross-checking on Schenn’s 4th of the year from Getlaf and Eriksson. Reimer stood tall for the Nor’Westers as Minneapolis continued to pepper him with shots, keeping the score at 1-0 and ending the first period with 26 saves on 27 shots from the Deep Freeze. Thunder Bay only managed 2 shots on goal in the period.<\/p>\n Despite being massively outplayed to this point, Thunder Bay evens the score at 1 after a turnover by Orpik gives them an opportunity in the offensive zone and Smith puts the puck past Cam Ward 4 minutes into the second period. 5 minutes later, Thunder Bay takes a 2-1 lead on another ill-advised turnover when Barkov fed Eberle for his 7th of the year. Coach Larry Murphy is not pleased with giving up 2 goals on only 6 shots, but keeps Ward in the game and tries to get his team to play smarter with the puck. A couple of penalties late in the period allowed Minneapolis to keep the pressure on Reimer, but the Deep Freeze continue to be stumped by his array of acrobatic saves and the 2nd period ends with Thunder Bay leading 2-1 despite being outshot 44-10 through two periods.<\/p>\n Minneapolis starts the 3rd period with a short 2-man advantage and 1:44 remaining on the Powerplay, but still can’t break through with Reimer stopping all 4 shots. With under 2 minutes to go and still trailing by 1, coach Larry Murphy reluctantly called his goaltender to the bench in favor of the extra attacker, but it was Thunder Bay would would score in the final minute on the empty net to take a 3-1 lead and win the game.<\/p>\n Star 1: TBN Reimer 61 saves

\nMIN None<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \n| Game #3:<\/th>\n | \n Long Beach (2) @ Minneapolis (3)<\/p>\n Minneapolis is motivated coming into this game after losing at home to Thunder Bay in a game that they really deserved to win.\u00a0 Once again they dominate their opponent in the shots department, outshooting Long Beach 47-17 in the game, but it still came down to the final minute.<\/p>\n The Deep Freeze come out strong and manage to get ahead early on Eriksson’s 9th of the year from Sedin and Datsyuk less than a minute into the game.\u00a0 Less than 2 minutes later, Long Beach would tie it when Nugent-Hopkins picked up a rebound in front of Cam Ward and banged it home for his 3rd goal of the season.\u00a0 With Bjugstad in the box for cross-checking, Minneapolis gets several chances but fails to capitalize.\u00a0 Bjugstad picked up a loose puck on his way out of the box and fed it to Ellis two set up Roussel for the go-ahead goal, putting Long Beach up 2-1.\u00a0 The period would end in a 2-1 lead for the Ice Dogs.<\/p>\n After a mostly uneventful second period, Roussel took a 5 minute major for checking from behind, giving Minneapolis a five monute Power Play.\u00a0 Talbot stood tall stopping all 11 Deep Freeze shots on the long Power Play to keep Long Beach in the lead heading into the second intermission.\u00a0 Through 2 periods, Minneapolis trails 2-1 despite outshooting Long Beach 32-14.<\/p>\n About 10 minutes into the third period with Minneapolis keeping the pressure on desperately trying to tie up the game to avoid going 0-3 at home this week, Richards picks up a lose puck in their own end.\u00a0 He carries it up and gets it over to Getzlaf, who feeds Hoffman in front for his 7th of the year to tie the game. And when the Rangers finally strike back in the final minute, Chicago responds with their own goal at the 19: mark. All 4 goals in the 4-1 Chicago win were even strength. Rangers go ZERO for EIGHT – Chicago had no PP attempts. every time a Ranger was whistled (twice) they took a mobster with them.

It was still 1-1 with 7:47 left in the game when Roussel netted his 2nd of the game to give Long Beach a 2-1 lead. Yandle added an empty netter to make the final score 3-1.
