With the stingy Bison D, we felt pretty confident that 3 goals would be enough.

3 goals didn’t even win the PERIOD (Regression can be a cold-hearted witch!!).

In what seems to be a troubling trend for Luongo, he allowed 3 goals in3:23 right before the end of the first to send us to intermission tied. Clearfield considered a goalie change, but left the veteran in there…and he promptly gave up a 4th goal – the HT goal for Jeff Skinner – 8 minutes into the second.

That seemed to be a turning point, though…from there, Clearfield gradually took control of the game, generating plenty of chances..and Brodie got the tying tally at 18:19.

The third period featured less shots but plenty more chances..and finally the newbie, Patrick Kane, burst through the D and beat Markstrom with just over 3 minutes to go. Clearfield withstood the late barrage by the Ice Dogs to claim a hard-fought 5-4 win.

There were an incredible amount of scoring chances in this game – Clearfield had 27, LBD had 20! Shots were even, 33-32 CLE. The Bison won 66% of faceoffs, and that was important this time. LA takes a penalty at 12:31, and the Rangers show LA what a PP looks like, with Ferland scoring to tie the game 2-2. Less than a minute later, the Danes get their 6th PP chance of the game, and they are totally disorganized and do nothing. At this point, LA hopes to at least salvage a point and get to OT. Jagr scores 3 goals in the 1st period en route to a 6-4 win. The Mullets out shoot the home team 16-5 in that first period, and a late PP goal in the 3rd made the score somewhat respectable for the Racs. Jagr did everything right and BC couldn’t match. Ovechkin had 2 G and 1 A, Kadri had 2 goals and Radulov had a goal and an assist to gain 3 star honors.

Bathgate Rangers @ Bucks County Racoons

Bucks County reversed it’s first period fortunes against the visiting Rangers, notching both goals and out shooting the visitors on the way to a 5-3 victory.
