Our boys answer the bell, as Kadri (14) scores just 86 seconds into the game, and then adds another (15) at 7:51 of the 2nd. Yellowknife gets a goal fron Rantanen (19) at 15:16 on the PP, but Jagr scores a back-breaker by Laine (21) aith only 6 seconds left in the 2nd period.<\/p>\n

The Mullets have dominated the play all game… until 6:24 of the 3rd when the wheels come off.<\/p>\n

First it’s Aho (15), then it’s Malkin (24) and Turris (3) that score within 3 minutes of each other to turn a dominating 3-1 Jagr game into a 4-3 Yellowknife lead!<\/p>\n

The Mullets throw everything they can against Lehtonen, but are forced to poal Gibson with under 90 seconds remaining. Stastny (3) makes them pay, as he seals the game… or does he?<\/p>\n

Mullets decide to be ultra-aggressive with the 2 goal deficit, and keep Gibson on the bench in favor of the extra attacker. Unfortunately, Yellowknife wins the faceoff and Kuznetzov (15) puts one in 5 seconds after Stastny. It’s 6-3 Yellowknife.<\/p>\n

Defeated but not beaten… the Mullets never quit. And Ovechkin (24) scores with 13 seconds remaining to pull the score to 6-4. The message to Yellowknife is sent – you got us this time, but be ready when we meet again.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Long Beach Ice Dogs @ Jagr Mullets<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nLong Beach has underachieved so far this season, with a star laden roster and a very good supporting cast. They’re the type of team that can come in and spoil your evening. And they nearly did…<\/p>\n

Gallagher (10) scores for the Ice Dogs right off the opening face-off, 18 seconds into the game! And then Heinen (6) beats Quick at 9:25 to put the visitors up 2-0. More concerning, they’re dictating the pace of play.<\/p>\n

But Auston Matthews (17) takes matters into his own hands, and scores on the opening shift of the 2nd period to slice the deficit in half.<\/p>\n

The Mullets have some trouble staying out of the box, and Heinen (7)collects his 2nd goal of the game on the PP at 8:57 to put the lead back to two goals.<\/p>\n

Alexander Radulov (6) scores a late goal in the 2nd to tighten it back up, and then halfway through the 3rd period Elias Lindholm (4) scores a gritty goal to tie it up.<\/p>\n

Will we go to OT?<\/p>\n

Nope.<\/p>\n

Jeff Skinner decides to take a dumb penalty late in the 3rd (Long Beach’s only one of the game), and the Jagr PP makes them pay dearly. Taylor Hall (16) beats Varlamov at 18:15 to give the Mullets their first and final lead of the game. They win it 4-3 thanks to the late pair of goals in the 3rd.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Weekly Summary:<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nThe Mullets let one get away against Yellowknife, and steal a game from Long Beach they should have won. All in all, we’ll take the 2 points at home this week and be happy with it.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
LA Great Danes<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Weekly Preview:<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nTwo home games, versus Charlotte and Brentwood. Installed the new DK game update – game #1 versus Charlotte was to go overtime, and the game would not let me continue. After multiple attempts, I gave up and started the game over. It kept saying the lineups were invalid – no center, first for the visitors, then the home team. Wonder if it’s a new bug with the update.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Charlotte Buzzards @ LA Great Danes<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nAfter an exciting practice game that ended with the above error, the replay was a dud for LA. Dzingel scored early, Grabner added 2 goals, and Charlotte coasted to a 4-1 win. Grabner was the #1 star with 2 goals, Lundqvist had 34 saves, and Dylan Larkin had 3 assists for the visitors. Christian Fischer ruined the shutout with a goal with 1:16 left in the game.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Brentwood Bandits @ LA Great Danes<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nThe Danes layed an egg in this one as well, with another 4-1 loss. After outshooting Brentwood 9-1 in game’s first 7 minutes, the Danes took back to back penalties, and the Bandits converted on both power plays on goals by Tavares and Neiderreiter. When Tavares scored again in the period’s last minute it was 3-0 Brentwood after one. The Danes pulled Andersen in favor of Malcolm Subban in goal, and the Danes did respond with a decent 2nd period, outshooting the Bandits 12-4 in the period, but no goals in the 2nd. Darnell Nurse scored midway through the period to make it 3-1, but David Backes closed out the scoring with a 2 on 1 goal with 3 minutes left.<\/p>\n

The game’ stars were obviously all Brentwood – Tavares 2G-1A, Vasilevskiy 41 saves, and Neiderreiter 1G-2A, along with Phil Kessel’s 3 assists.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Weekly Summary:<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nTwo bad losses at home for the Danes, they had earned a point against Charlotte before the game error that required a replay, and it was down hill from there. The new game upgrade STINKS!!!<\/p>\n

The Danes had surprisingly been in playoff position halfway through the season, but perhaps the Danes true colors came out this week. Or will they learn from this experience and bounce back. At least in the West, there’s a chance to stay in playoff contention – we look forward to more games against the West in the second half.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Charlotte Buzzards<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Weekly Preview:<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nCharlotte played its lone home game during this stretch prior to Christmas, a December 20 contest versus Columbus.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Columbus Brew Jackets @ Charlotte Buzzards<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nThe Blue Jackets overwhelmed Charlotte with six unanswered goals — which, impressively, were scored by six different Columbus forwards — in overcoming an early 1-0 deficit. Nikita Krucherov, Tyler Johnson and Jujhar Khaira all scored first period goals for Columbus after Ryan Dzingel registered the first goal of the game to provide the Buzzards with a short-lived 1-0 lead. The balanced offensive barrage continued with Logan Couture, Conor Sheary and J.T. Miller finding the net the rest of the way. The Buzzards were, simply stated, outclassed by far superior goaltending. Ben Bishop recorded 34 saves with the loan blemish being Dzingel’s early goal. By contrast the Blue Jackets lit up King Henrik, who managed to save just eight of the 13 shots he faced before he was mercifully lifted for Anti Raanta.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Weekly Summary:<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nThe decision to go with the previously hot hand at home in Lundqvist clearly backfired in this latest contest, as the Buzzards remain mired in fourth place in a cut-throat Atlantic division where no one has a losing record as Christmas approaches.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Alamo Defenders @ Brentwood Bandits<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nHard fought game by both teams. The difference was Vasilevskiy down the stretch stopping multiple great chances in the 3rd to seal a 6-4 victory for the Bandits.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Weekly Preview:<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nRangers have dropped off the map slumping on both Offense and Defense – goal production DOWN goal stopping DOWN … This week we host another team that’s fading – Bucks County and another Central division team – Toledo who is having a steady season.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Bucks County Raccoons @ Bathgate Rangers<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nThe 1st 2 minutes and 8 seconds belonged to the Raccoons. 28 seconds in Lewis scores after Larsson wins the opening faceoff and sends it through center ice into space. Lewis picked it up, to Suter, to Larsson to Keith to Lewis (crowd getting dizzy) and so was Rinne as Lewis snaps it past him. Just less than 2 minutes later Perry passes to McDavid, to Suter back to McDavid – shoots low and it 2-0 Raccoons 2 minutes and 5 seconds in!!!
\nBut that ended the highlights for Bucks County – somehow that surge woke up the Rangers and Hischier and Killorn score before the period ends to tie it at 2-2. Then Killorn gets his 2nd goal of the game in the 2nd for a 3-2 lead. He can’t get his 3rd but Ferland decides he’ll score 2 and he does in the 3rd BUT it was because the Raccoons were pulling out all stops – AND EARLY. 18:27 of the 3rd Ferland gets EN goal #1. Center ice faceoff, he gets control and pinpoints one into the empty net 5 seconds after his first EN goal of the game. Score is now 5-2 Rangers and that’s how it ends!

Toledo Walleye @ Bathgate Rangers<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nExcept for the 1st 2 minutes of the last game, the Rangers had a dominating effort – can they do it again? WELL – the Walleye are cooking and Vanek makes it 1-0 Toledo after 4 minutes. Barrie ups it to 2-0 less than 4 minutes later and period 1 ends 2-0 favor of the Walleye!
\nThen in the 2nd period the Rangers scored on 4 minutes spurts – Feland scores at 4:16, Subban at 8:08 and then Tierney makes it 3-2 a t 12:29. Rangers head to the 3rd up 3-2.Then just like in the previous game, the Walleye pull their goalie with less than 2 minutes to go and the Rangers respond not once, but again twice, with EN goals. This time it was Hischier and Provorov and again the Rangers win 5-2.

Weekly Preview:<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nBrew Jackets are having to work hard to stay in touch with Jagr (the go for it now team) and Brentwood Bandits – the here I am trying to steal the division team. This week we host Gilbert and LA from the Pacific Division.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Gilbert Sharks @ Columbus Brew Jackets<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nColumbus takes a 2-0 lead into the 3rd after Benn scores in the 1st and Johnson in the 2nd. Henrique makes it 2-1 3 minutes into the 3rd scoring for Gilbert. But then Giordano gets his 3rd minor penalty at 7 minutes (2nd for holding) and the Brew Jackets capitalize with Benn getting the PP goal (his 2nd goal of the game). But the Sharks aren’t going down easy. Just over a minute and a half to go and Rask skates to the bench, Voracek in for the extra attacker and he teams up with MacKinnon to get it to Atkinson who scores to make it 3-2 with 1:24 to go. Ensuing faceoff goes Gilbert’s way and they keep attacking. Keller shots at the 5 hole, Bishop covers it up, loose puck, Edmundson gains control, to Benn, to Kucherov, to Burns – shots – EN Goal for the 4-2 lead and final.

LA Great Danes @ Columbus Brew Jackets<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nGreat Danes come north and the battle heats up. Each team scored twice in the 1st, Sobotka started it for LA, then Couture and Hickey score for Columbus but Eller gets a PP goal in the last minute to tie it 2-2 as the period ends.
\nMiller gets a late 2nd period goal to break the tie and give the Brew Jackets a 3-2 lead heading into the 3rd. But Toledo ties it up when Milano gets his 1st of the year 4 and 1\/2 minutes in. The Brew boys quickly regain the lead and then sum when Benn and Hayes score just minutes later making it 5-3 Columbus. Pietrangelo cuts that to 5-4 when Hickey loses control in the neutral zone and Bryon scoops up the puck gets it to Eller who passes it to Pietrangelo who fires it past Halak to close the gap. Then the teams fight the rest of the way to see who can prevail. Great Danes pull Anderson with a minute 20 to go, but Columbus holds firm and skates away with the 5-4 win! Pressure belonged to LA in the 3rd – SOG 12-5, but Brew Jackets got 40% of those SOGs to go in.

California Regulators @ Clearfield Bison<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nNew owner\/gm orders some tinkering with the lineup and the results were not as expected. clearfield dominated play in the 1st period outshooting the regulators 17-7 and giving up only 2 scoring chances, yet, the bison end the period trailing 2-0 after goals from zibenajad and reinhart. the second period doesnt go much better as they give up another goal on only 2 scoring chances with barzal netting a ppg. ancient dan hamhuis scores late in the period for the bisons first goal. the 3rd period ended scoreless giving california the 3-1 victory despite being outshot 40-23. not the start to the maine lobster…i mean clearfield bisons new era.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
New Jersey Grizzlies @ Clearfield Bison<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nDivision rival new jersey comes to Clearfield, where the hell is clearfield anyways, for the 2nd game under new ownership. owner George Stimac names Chris chelios as new coach before the game. more lineup adjustments and more surprising results. an evenly played opening period finishes with a late goal by pulock and the visitors had a 1-0 lead. the 2nd period saw a big change as clearfield erupts for 5 goals, maroon, rackell, hertl, rackell (2nd) and little, and a 5-1 lead. new jersey gets a goal in the 3rd by hedman for a final score of 5-2. both teams took 40 shots and connor hellebuyck made 38 saves for the victory. owner stimac and coach chelios celebrate with lobster rolls and a bottle of moxie and say dont read anything into this we are just happy for the win.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Chicago Cosa Nostra @ New Jersey Grizzlies<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nThis game was quite a surprise for NJ they have been struggling to find the net but against the ever tough boys from Chicago it was clearly not the case. The Grizzlies jumped out quick 2-0 but Chicago closed the gap with 1 of their own but it was then Gibbons and Getzlaf show and New Jersey was able to close it out 6-1.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Lafayette Homesteaders @ New Jersey Grizzlies<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nWhen you talk about and Uneventful game this was it. New Jersey got the lead on goals from Joe Morrow and Shea Weber both who drew back into the lineup. Lafayette got the lead to within 1, but could not get the push they needed. Cory Schneider started this and the last game vs Chicago and had a fine showing.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Cincinnati Inferno @ New Jersey Grizzlies<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nNew Jersey had this game penciled in all week, knowing that this tough division rival was hungry and looking to get after Grizzlies. This game was a clearly a prize fight since both teams traded goals like punches for almost three periods. It has been young Ondraj Kase who was able to find the net with 1:25 on the clock and give Keith Kinkaid and New Jersey Grizzlies the win.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Weekly Summary:<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nThis week was a strong week picking up 3 wins at home. Also we brought a few players into the lineup to see what they could do production wise. Shea Weber and Joe Morrow have shown Coach Waldron they warrant more time over the next few weeks. Clearfield Bison @ Toledo Walleye<\/strong><\/span><\/td>\nClearfield 5, Toledo 1 – Good balanced attack by the Bison with goals by Kane, Hamhuis, Rakell, Girioux, and Berglund. Toledo aids the visitors with a 9-1 penalty disadvantage, totalling over 20 minutes in the box. The Bison were 2-9 on the powerplay while the Walleye never got their PP unit on the ice. So much for home ice advantage. Hellebucyk saved 27 of 28 for the visitors.

Close game until the 3rd period when Jagr scored 3 unanswered goals to break it wide open. Hall scored 3 of the first 4 goals for Jagr. Matthews, Kadri and Laine added the other 3. VAnek and Mantha scored for the Walleye. Gibson saves 36 of 38 shots to squash the Walleye offense.
