WEEKLY PREVIEW:<\/span><\/th>\nRangers playing out the season as their team continues to gel and looking forward to next year. We host a team in similar position in the W-L area and get to face them home and away this week. (Kind of a commissioner’s office series)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Toledo Walleye @ Bathgate Rangers<\/span><\/th>\nGame was filled with LOTS of shots – 139 total – of which 69 got on goal and 12 of them went in the net!! Both teams had 3 power plays, both teams scored on 2 of them. But in the end, the Rangers got the 3 stars and the only notable. Needless to say, neither goalie was listed for any good stuff.
\n1st Period – van Riemsdyk scores his 31st for Toledo – but the Rangers Pavel Buchnevich counters with 2 goals (23, 24) of his own to give the Rangers the 2-1 lead after 1.
\n2nd Period – 59 seconds in, Toledo’s Krejci (16) gets a PP goal to tie it and then Cirelli (8) puts the Walleye up 3-2 3 minutes later. However, Vrana (7) scores just a little over a minute later to tie it and Provorov (9) scores just before the midpoint of the period and the Rangers are back in front 4-3. 4 minutes later Mika Zibanejad (38) scores to give Bathgate the 5-3 lead. But hold on – the Walleye then get a PP goal from Pettersson (41) a minute later and with 2 to go in the 2nd, Krejci (17) scores his 2nd of the game and Toledo is again in a tie. But with 10 seconds left in the period, Toledo’s Nemeth in the penaltry box, ZBad (39) scores a PP goal to give the Rangers a 6-5 lead after 2. 8 goals in period two, 4 for each team!
\nPERIOD 3 – This period was a yawner compared to the previous sets and looked more like postseason play (or exhaustion). Hertl scores with 9 minutes left to give the Rangers a 7-5 cushion and Georgiev and the Rangers hold on the rest of the way for the 7-5 win.

Charlotte Buzzards @ LA Great Danes<\/span><\/th>\nCharlotte jumps to a 2-0 lead in the 1st on goals by Hamonic and Dzingel. A Scheifele 5 on 3 goal is followed by a Barbashev goal after an LA PK, and the game is tied in the 2nd, but 22 seconds after the Barbashev goal, Dougie Hamilton scores off a 3 on 1 break, and the Buzzards lead after 2 by a 3-2 score. Colton Sissons scores miday through the 3rd to put Charlotte up 4-2, and Ekman-Larsson seals the 5-2 win for the Buzzards with an empty net goal.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Bucks County Raccoons @ LA Great Danes<\/span><\/th>\nThe Danes next take on Central Division leader Bucks County with their 8.6 rated Jack Campbell in net. After the Raccoons take a 1-0 lead on a goal by Tom Wilson, the Great Danes score 4 straight and lead 4-1 midway through the 2nd. The team trade goals after that and the Raccoons don’t get closer than a 2-goal deficit. When Jamie Benn scores his 20th goal of the season to put LA up 7-3 eight minutes into the 3rd, Ben Bishop replaces Campbell. He stops all 10 shots he faces the rest and the way and the Raccoons score another goal, but the game ends with a 7-4 home ice victory for the Danes.<\/p>\n

It was a big night for Mark Scheifle with 1G-3A, and Joe Thornton has 1G-1A with his goal coming on a breakaway, as Jumbo Joe winds down what is likely his final few games of his MWHL career. The 7 goals by LA is a season high.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Brentwood Bandits @ LA Great Danes<\/span><\/th>\nBo Horvat scores 3:33 into the game, and it stays that way until Joe Pavelski’s 42nd goal of the year 8 minutes into the third period. Alex Pietrangelo spoils the shutout with the his 19th goal of the season with 4:19 left, but late goals by Foligno and Josi (EN) give the Bandits a 4-1 win. Vasilevskiy is the #1 star for Brentwood with 25 saves.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
WEEKLY SUMMARY:<\/span><\/th>\nThe Great Danes lose 2 of 3 at home but win on the road for a 2-2 week. The season will end next week at the Sharks, and Thornton and Marleau will be in the lineup for the finale, so that will be the big story line of the Dane’s final week.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

WEEKLY PREVIEW:<\/span><\/th>\nOn the outside, looking in, The Walleye have 2 home games in hopes of wins and sneaking up on California for the last playoff spot. Bathgate and Guentzel in town. Arvidsson off the DL for the final 6 games.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Bathgate Rangers @ Toledo Walleye<\/span><\/th>\nRangers 7, Walleye 6, SO – Goalies avert your eyes, not a pretty sight. Walleye kill the first penalty by Severson with a bonus, a shortie by Backstrom to take a 1-0 lead. 5 minutes later its Arvidsson with some nifty skating for another goal, and things looking good in the Glass City, 2-0 Walleye.<\/p>\n

Something then clicks for the Rangers, and they take control of the next 40 minutes, outscoring the home team 6-2. Hischier twice, Lindholm, Sanheim, Klingberg and Vrana getting goals all at even strength. For the Walleye, only Rodrigues and Backstrom for this 2nd of the game, can counter, and its 6-4 with 11 minutes to go.<\/p>\n

Another defensive tweak seems to stop the Rangers offense, but the Walleye offense continues to sputter until the final 3 minutes when Mantha scores, quickly followed by Arvidsson (his 2nd) and its 6-6 with 2 minutes to go. Both defenses hold and its free hockey time.<\/p>\n

First OT sees 13 SOG but both goalies have woken up at this time, and nothing hits net.<\/p>\n

The shootout sees 5 goals, and the 6th attempt by JVR is stopped by Halak, his only bright spot for the night.<\/p>\n

Guentzel Gunners @ Toledo Walleye<\/span><\/th>\nWalleye 3, Gunners 2 – First period sees the most action. First a goal by Mantha. The Gunners answer less than 30 seconds later with Greenway, and we are tied at 1. Just before the horn, Backstrom from close in makes it 2-1 at intermission.<\/p>\n

2nd period – Manth pushes the lead to 2 with a goal just past the halfway point. As Toledo gets ready to go to the locker room up by 2, Faksa finds an opening for the visitors to give them a little mo’ going to intermission down 3-2.<\/p>\n

3rd period it all Binnington, and he stop all 11 shots by the visitors to hold on to the win.<\/p>\n

WEEKLY SUMMARY:<\/span><\/th>\nAfter Dubnyk shits the bed in his lone home start, allowing 6 goals, plus stopping nothing in the shootout, a nice comback by the 3rd line in game 2, scoring all 3 goals, plus Binnington making a 1 goal lead stand in the final stanza.<\/p>\n

In the first period, Aaron Ekblad scores on a power play. It’s his 9th goal. Later in the 1st period, Kuznetsov scores his 9th to tie the game.<\/p>\n

In the 2nd, Marchand scores his 36th of the year on a power play. Alamo is able to avoid a tying goal.<\/p>\n

WEEKLY PREVIEW:<\/span><\/th>\nThe Buzzards, destined to close under .500 for the second straight season, hosted the playoff bound Bucks County Raccoons in its lone matchup this week.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Bucks County Raccoons @ Charlotte Buzzards<\/span><\/th>\nDown 2-1, Bucks County rallies from with three unanswered goals and holds off the Buzzards, 4-3. Goals by Patrick Kane and Tom Wilson beat Carey Price gave the Raccoons a 3-2 lead after two periods and Marcus Johansson followed with an even strength for Bucks County 4:13 into the third period which gave the Raccoons an 4-2 lead that proved to be insurmountable. Charlotte scored once in each period, including a goal midway through the third by Anders Lee that closed the scoring.<\/p>\n
