WEEKLY PREVIEW:<\/span><\/th>\nDown to the final 3 weeks and the Rangers are still trying to catch Jagr – outside shot – but they are far better off than management hoped for when the season began. Coming to Madison Round Garden this week are Charlotte, Cincinnati (**), and LA. **Cincinnati might very well be a post season matchup and these teams will be looking over each other closely.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\nBathgate Rangers<\/span><\/th>\n		The teams are 1-2 in head to head with the Rangers holding a big 9-7 goal differential despite being on the short end of the series.
\nBut the Rangers have been moving UP in the power rankings – but still the Buzzards score 1st. Rust puts in his 26th 7 minutes into the game. But then John Tavares begins his natural hat trick. 11 minutes in he gets his 1st (27). Minute and half to go he gets his 2nd (28 PP) and the Rangers lead 2-1 after 1.<\/p>\n

Both teams clamp down on defense and despite 24 SOG between them in the 2nd, Reimer and Allen give up nothing. In fact, neither will give up another goal in the game. Tavares’s 3rd goal comes in the closing minute into an empty net – Hertl and DeAngelo made sure Tavares would get that Hat Trick! FINAL 3-1 Rangers

\nBathgate Rangers<\/span><\/th>\n		These teams enter this one tied 2-2 for the season with the Inferno holding a 12-10 goals lead.
\nPeriod 1 goes scoreless until Tatar draws a hooking penalty with 2 1\/2 to go. While off, his teammates bail him out with Hertl scoring a SH goal with 39 seconds left.<\/p>\n

Period 2 – but the Inferno spent some quality time in the locker room during the intermission and came out scoring the equalizer 25 seconds into the period. Then Carlson scores 4 minutes later giving Cincinnati the 2-1 lead. BUT the Rangers then get a PP goal by Pionk 7 minutes in to retie the game and then Hertl gets his 2nd shorthanded goal with 2 minutes to go. BUT this time, the Inferno finally get a PP goal when Kurcherov scores at 18:22. Then he scores again 51 seconds later giving the Inferno a 4-3 lead as the period ends!! That was basically 3 goals in a 73 second span.<\/p>\n

THIRD PERIOD – teams tighten up and it’s still 4-3 Cincinnati going into the final minute – couldn’t ask for much more – Bathgate pulls the goalie, and piles on the attack, but Carlson breaks up a play and fires one down toward the Bathgate goal and with 13 seconds left he puts the game away with the empty netter for a 5-3 Cincinnati win. Of the 8 goals in this game only 3 were your basic EV strength goal. 2 PP, 2 SH, 1 EN!

\nTHRID PERIOD – Vrana puts one past Merzlikens 6 minutes in. He was assisted by Tavares (his 2nd assist). But Kapanen finally solved Georgiev with 6 to go and the game is now 2-1. The Great Danes pull the goalie – but it’s McCann who scores the EN goal for the Rangers with 37 seconds to go to put it away. FINAL 3-1 Bathgate

WEEKLY PREVIEW:<\/span><\/th>\nThe Danes come into week 20 as one of the hottest teams in the league, fresh off a 4-0 week 19, in which William Nylander shared skater of the week honors with Sidney Crosby and Igor Shesterkin went 2-0 and stopped 82 of 85 shots but somehow was snubbed for goalie of the week honors.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\nLA Great Danes<\/span><\/th>\n		Jonathan Toews opens the scoring for Chicago 1:16 into the game, but the gangsters take 3 straight penalties and LA dominates the rest of the period. But 20 saves on 20 shots by MacKenzie Blackwood, and Chicago leads 1-0 after one.<\/p>\n

LA continued its shot and scoring change advantage in period 2, but the teams swap goals – Nylander for LA and Copp for Chicago, and the Danes trail 2-1 heading to the 3rd period.<\/p>\n

It took nearly the whole 3rd period, but LA finally solves Blackwood at the end with late goals by Ehlers and Nurse. Miro Heiskanen finishes it with an empty netter, and LA wins 4-2.<\/p>\n

Blackwood finishes with 46 saves, but Nylander 1G-1A, Scheifele 3A, and Ehlers 1G are the three stars.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\nLA Great Danes<\/span><\/th>\n		A battle for last place in the west. The teams alternate scoring 5 goals in the 1st, and LA leads 3-2 after one. In the second, both teams kill off a pair of penalties, and the only goal comes from Anthony Mantha of Toledo, so it’s 3-3 after 2.<\/p>\n

Toledo dominates the early part of the 3rd, outshooting LA 8-1, but LA takes a 4-3 lead on a goal by Roope Hintz. JG Pageau ties it up with 5 minutes left, and we end regulation at 4-4.<\/p>\n

In the OT, Mark Scheifele sends the home fans home happy with the game-winner. Another win for LA, this a 5-4 victory in overtime.<\/p>\n

For the second straight game, Nylander and Scheifele are the game’s first 2 stars, each with 1G-1A, and Niklas Backstrom is the 3rd star with 1G-1A for Toledo. Honorable mention to Jonas Brodin of the Great Danes, with a +5 rating, 3 takeaways, 3 blocks, and an assist on the OT game winner.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\nLA Great Danes<\/span><\/th>\n		New Jersey comes out and pounds the Danes early, scoring the lone goal of the period on a Garland goal off an odd man rush, and LA has no pushback and is intimidated with a .4 intimidation level against them.<\/p>\n

The Danes were a bit better in the 2nd, but no scoring and Jersey continues to lead 1-0 heading into the 3rd.<\/p>\n

But the Danes open the 3rd on the power play, and once again it’s the Scheifele\/Nylander combo that comes through for the Danes. A PPG goal by Scheifele assisted by Nylander 57 seconds into the 3rd ties the game. The Black Aces regain the lead on a Nazem Kadri goal, but Brock Boeser breaks free and ties the game at 2 on a breakaway with 7 minutes left.<\/p>\n

The Danes then cap off the homestand in style as Aleksander Barkov scores the winning goal with just 11 seconds left. Boeser with 1G-1A is the #1 star, and Barkov and Scheifele are the other stars with their goals.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

WEEKLY SUMMARY:<\/span><\/th>\nThe Danes do lose on the road to Bathgate this week, but LA continues its winning ways. A bottom 3 finish in the standings seemed inevitable, but with a 14-3-2 run the Danes are losing their draft position a bit. Management had been doing their best to tank this lost season, but the players and coaches have had none of that. Two weeks to go in the season and mixed emotions in LA right now. Do they go through the motions and salvage a bottom 4 finish, or do they their continue their run and close out the season on a high note?<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The game is quiet until halfway through the 3rd period when Hedman scores to extend the Gilbert lead but less than a minute later Radulov scores to bring Jagr back within 1. Jagr pulls the goalie down 1 but it doesnt look like they will get a score until with 6 seconds left, Miller scores to send the game to OT. In the extra period, Gilbert controls the puck early and shortly ends the game on a goal by Makar. 4-3 Gilbert win<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

WEEKLY PREVIEW:<\/span><\/th>\nThe Cincinnati Inferno welcome in Toledo and Brentwood this week. The Inferno are currently tied with Thunder Bay for the top spot in the Atlantic Division.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Jake Guentzel had a pair of first period power play goals to account for all the scoring in this one. David Perron had assists on each of the goals.<\/p>\n

The Inferno went two-for-three on the power play and blanked the Walleye in three attempts. In a tightly-contested defensive game, the Infeerno won the shots battle, 20-14.<\/p>\n

Connor Hellebuyck stopped all 14 shots faced and Jordan Binnington had 18 saves.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Max Pacioretty’s hat trick propelled Cincinnati to the win. Nikita Kucherov had assists on all of his goals, as the Inferno tallied empty net goals six seconds apart late to seal the contest.<\/p>\n

Cincinnati once again played the lockdown defense, winning the shots battle, 23-15 and limiting the Bandits to a single second period shot. Connor Hellebuyck turned away 14 shots and Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 19 in the loss.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

WEEKLY PREVIEW:<\/span><\/th>\nWith third-place Charlotte significantly trailing dueling Atlantic squads Thunder Bay and Cincinnati (the two latter teams are fighting tooth and nail for division supremacy), all the Buzzards really have left to play for is pride and a potential .500 record. Charlotte continued the pursuit of its best season statistically in its three years of existence when it hosted New Jersey and Toledo — those two visiting squads are similarly looking up in the standings in their respective divisions.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\nCharlotte Buzzards<\/span><\/th>\n		Let’s go Rutgers! With that NCAA plug out of the way from this Scarlet Knights alum, the Buzzards were not kind to their MWHL Garden State visitors, and handled the Black Aces a 5-1 defeat, in one of the few games where Charlotte has coasted this season.<\/p>\n

Alex Iafallo accounted for the Buzzards’ second and third goals to put the home team ahead 3-1 by early in the second period and Alex Killorn and Bryan Rust added insurance goals later in the game.<\/p>\n

The only scoring the Black Aces could muster against Jake Allen was an even strength goal at 3:32 of the second from Kevin Shatterkirk and assisted by Ryan McDonagh and Anthony Cirelli. It gave New Jersey life and narrowed the deficit to 2-1 before Charlotte pulled away.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

\nCharlotte Buzzards<\/span><\/th>\n		Toledo and Charlotte, two evenly matched teams as their records indicate, played this as close as it gets, but the visiting Walleye prevailed in an overtime that extended into the shootout, by a final of 3-2.<\/p>\n

The difference was Toledo’s Anthony Mantha and Elias Pettersson both slipping pucks past Allen in the shootout, while the true star of the game, Jordan Binnington shut out Jon Marchessault and Rust — this after recording 41 saves during the contest.<\/p>\n

Goals by Vince Trocheck and Mantha had lifted the Walleye to a 2-1 lead in regulation; a goal by Charlotte’s Ryan Dzingel with 7:59 left in the third closed the scoring as the teams remained deadlocked through the rest of regulation.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
