Unlike the other two teams, Lansing did not allow Jagr to jump out to an early lead and let Ben Bishop shut the game down.<\/p>\n But in the 2nd period, Jagr breaks through a goal by Braun (his 1st) at 2:23. Early in the 3rd, Pavelski (2) pots an even strength unassisted goal at 3:06.<\/p>\n Lansing hangs in there though, and strikes less than 2 minutes later, as Anisimov beats Bishop. Midway through the 3rd, Jagr faces their first 5-on-3 power play. \nHampton’s Brian Elliott was hot, Minnie’s Cam Ward was not.
\nElliott walled off 34 of 35 shots while Ward was a tad sievelike in the first period allowing four goals on 11 shots by Hampton with the Blizzard skating off to a welcome and probably rare 6-1 win over the Deep Freeze.
\nAndre Burakovsky opened the scoring four minutes into the game on a 3-2 rush that resulted from a turnover at mid-ice. Burakovsky one-timed a pass through the slot by Andrew Shaw over the glove of the Deep Freeze netminder.
\nSome steady end-to-end action followed throughout the period with Braydon Schenn drawing the teams even at the 16-minute mark with a nifty deke backhand goal following a nice give-and-go with Ryan Getzlaf.
\nAbout 90 seconds later, Vincent Trocheck won the draw deep in the Minneapolis end and drew the puck back to Mike Ribeiro who took it into the corner and then passed out front to the waiting stick of Jamie McGinn who dinged it home through the pads of the Deep Freeze goaltender to make it 2-1 Hampton.
\nAnother mid-ice turnover by Minneapolis only a minute later set up the next Hampton goal when Ribeiro was again in on the scoring action this time banking home a rebound off Trocheck’s wrister from the top of the faceoff circle to make it 3-1.
\nBut the Blizzard were not done yet. Half a minute later, Jason Demers fired a one-timer high over Ward’s pads and he somehow made a brilliant blocker save but the rebound fell at his skates with Patric Hornqvist’s stick just waiting to fire it home for a 4-1 lead.
\nHampton was clearly out-played and outshot in the final two period by margins of 12-8 and 15-7, but Elliott was on his game and held them scoreless.

Bathgate had it and Brentwood didn’t.<\/p>\n Period 1
\nDonskoi scores from in front of the net on Fleury at 6:44. Assists by Karlsson and Russel<\/p>\n Hainsey makes it a game, albeit a false hope, 2 minutes later at 8:44. Assists by Parenteau and Baertschi<\/p>\n Fontaine rounded out the scoring of the 1st period with an unassisted breakaway goal after a turnover.<\/p>\n Period 2
\nKane on the PP from Stoll and Benn<\/p>\n Zajac assisted by Karlsson and Russell and Tom Atkins replaces Fleury with Lundqvist. Wouldn’t make much of a difference.<\/p>\n Gigensons assisted by Donskoi and Karlsson.<\/p>\n Parenteau tried his best to get his team back into it cutting the lead to three (5-2) but it wouldn’t last.<\/p>\n A minute and half later Karlsson scores on a slapper from the point assisted by Kane and Benn on the PP.<\/p>\n Period 3
\nGaustad scores the lone 3rd period goal at 5:29 assisted by Jaskin… but not for lack of trying by the Bandits as they fired a total of 41 shots at Pekka Rinne who turned 39 away.<\/p>\n The bad news for the Bandits is that their goaltending was terrible as Bathgate only managed 17 shots all night, but scored SEVEN GOALS on those shots!!!<\/p>\n Was this an anomaly? The home side jumps out to a 3-0 lead in the first on a goal from Hayes and a pair of goals from the captain Tavares.<\/p>\n The Rockets answer with the next two goals to start the second and cut the lead to 3-2. Tavares answers back with his third goal of the game just 13 seconds later.<\/p>\n The Rockets get a goal early in the third but the Chiefs are able to hold on for their first home victory, 4-3.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n \n| Game #2:<\/th>\n | \u00a0Next up is Wausau coming to the Wigwam. The home team strikes first with Panarin getting his first of the year from Tavares and Palmieri.
\nWith Chara in the box for a five minute major, Jimmy Hayes puts in a rebound to make it 2-0 Chiefs. But just seconds later its the Lumberjacks with a short handed goal off a breakaway to cut the lead to 2-1.
\nThe Lumberjacks get three power play chances in the 2nd, including a four minute opportunity, but cannot score. 2-1 Chiefs after two.
\nFive minutes into the third with the Chiefs on the power play, another short handed goal for the visitors as Kopitar ties it up.
\nRight after going to the box for two minutes, Hayes comes out and re-directs a Brooks Laich shot into the twine for his second of the game to take back the lead for Second City.
\nThen shortly after killing another penalty, the Chiefs add on with MacKinnon getting the deflection off the Letang shot from the point. 4-2 Chiefs.
\nThen with just under 3 minutes to play it’s Kopitar again for Wausau to cut the deficit to one.
\nWith 20 seconds left its Gostisbehere with the shot from the point to seal the deal for Second City who win their second straight home game 5-3.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n | \n| Weekly Summary:<\/th>\n | \nSecond City follows up their brutal first week by salvaging a couple of home wins in week two.
