Jagr Mullets
Weekly Preview:
Two games at home vs. Columbus and Brentwood.  These two games are dominated by the defensemen.
Game #1: This game is all Jagr, as the Mullets go up 3-0 on goals by three different defensemen (Brodie, Carlson, and Vlasic). Early in the 3rd, Jeff Carter adds a 4th goal, which ends up being the only goal by a forward in the game. Columbus avoids the shutout thanks to an unassisted Brent Burns goal in the 3rd, but ultimately it’s a 4-1 Jagr victory.2016-17 Columbus 27-33-0-3 0 0 1 1

Game #2: Sibling rivalry!

Brentwood comes to down in 2nd place behind Jagr, and the offense continues to flow out of the defense.

Ekman-Larsson scores goals early in the 1st and 2nd to put Brentwood up 2-0. The Mullets calm down though, and score three unanswered goals – Pavelski (33), Kadri (9), and Smith (9).

But Brentwood won’t go down easliy — Parenteau pots his 18th with less than 2 minutes remaining to force OT.

The teams go back and forth, with each having excellent opportunities — but it’s only fitting that a defenseman end the game. Unfortunately, it’s Kevin Bieksa for Brentwood that pots the game winner to send the fans home grumbling.

Bathgate Rangers
Weekly Preview:
Ranger home for 3 games this week all in the Metropolitan division. This would be Bathgate’s best (but really slim) chance to move up in the division. And game 3 is against Columbus – Rangers carry a 7-0 record against the family rival ……
Game #1: Brentwood skated hard and fired often in this game! Really often … After a meager 9 shots on goal in period 1, they peppered Rinne with 22 in period 2 and 19 more in period 3 for a game total of 50 (and they actually fired 93 shots and had 31 scoring chances – against 8 for the Rangers.Whay all this fuss on their shooting – because Rinne actually stopped ALL 50 of those shots (he looked pretty beat up after the game, but the smile was broad). The shutout (3) earned him #1 Star. Fayne (3) got a goal in the 1st and Kane (38) got an insurance goal in the 2nd. They were the other 2 stars in the game.

Bathgate gets a 2-0 shutout win to start the week!

Game #2: 2 days later the Rangers still on a high host the Flying Tigers from Lakeland. Well the Tigers were the ones flying in this one. They shot early (15 in the 1st) and often – 37 on net in the game. Unfortunately for the home team, Rinne was still reeling from the beating he took in the Brentwood game and he saw 5 pucks reach the back of the net.Period 1 ended up even as Parise got one in but Benn later tied it up. But that would be it for Bathgate as Jones stopped all of the 20+ shots to follow.

Period 2 Pirri (7) scored on a power play. And the 3rd period started – still looking like a close one, but the Flying Tigers scored 3 times – Henrique (22) early on, and the Spezza (23) got an empty netter as the Rangers were trying to get back. With Rinne back between the pipes, Grabner (7) scored with 38 seconds left to finish the 5-1 win.

STARS (all Lakeland)
1. Spezza 1 goal, 2 points
2. Pirri 1 goal, 2 points
3. Jones 30 saves

Game #3: Match of the week as the Rangers host family rival Columbus which has been anything but even. Ranger hold the 7-0 series lead and need to make it 8 for any kind of chance of moving out of the cellar. But ….Period 1 – Brew Jackets fire 12 shots at Rinne and Hayes is able to capitalize on a penalty to Grossman (interference) and give Columbus the 1-0 lead.

Period 2 – Nash makes it 2-0 Columbus when he redirects a Burns shot past Rinne. Then Zajac goes off for tripping late and Kucherov gets Columbus’s 2nd PP goal to make it 3-0 and the Square Garden grows quiet.
But ….
With less than a minute to go in the 2nd, the Rangers work a typical front line play, Kane to Staal to Benn – GOAL and it’s 3-1 as the buzzer for period 2 sounds.

Period 3 – The other Staal for the Brew Jackets gets 2 minutes for roughing a 2:29. Rangers make him pay with a PP goal from Horcoff at 2:51, 3-2 Columbus.
Then the fans get some more of what they came for – at 10:28 Bouma slips one past Crawford – who is not screaming at his defense for help. And the game is tied.
The game stays that way, with the fans standing the rest of the way, until the last minute and a half when the game winner is put in and it was the 2nd goal of the game for
Rick Nash (10) – and the Brew Jackets are able to hold off off a minute and 10 seconds of Xtra attacker skating and snap the 7 game losing streak!

All the Star awards were given to Columbus
1. Nash with his 2 goals and the game winner
2. Kucherov 1 goal, 2 points
3. Burns – 3 assists

Weekly Summary:
So there you have it a typical Ranger week – lots of fun but only 1 win.
Rangers 2-0 over Lakeland Brentwood convincing 5-1 win over the Rangers Columbus with an exciting 4-3 win as the hung on and came back to snap that long losing streak.

New Jersey Grizzlies
Weekly Preview:
New Jersey has only 1 home game this week against divisional rival Hampton. The playoff push is in full effect.
Game #1: In a divisional matchup New Jersey hosts Hampton. The atmosphere was electric and it was like the playoffs from the start. New Jersey jumped out early with a 1-0 lead courtesy of Marek Zidlicky. In a powerplay situation it was Tommy Wingels opening the lead up to 2-0 with his 5th of the year. Off the draw immediately following the Wingels goal it was tic-tak-toe play to Kevin Shattenkirk blew the doors open and made it 3-0 in the first. After a killing a penalty it was Zidlicky striking again and making the score 4-0 with his second goal of the night. Hampton got on the board in the second from Andrei Burakovsky goal and the lead was now 4-1. Thru a seesaw period Hampton got the only one of the period. And in rough and tumble third period neither team could change the score but NJ was able to hold on for a much needed two points.
Weekly Summary:
With only 1 home game New Jersey has to make ground up on the road to keep pace with the other horses.

Indiana Sycamores
Weekly Preview:
Biggest week of the season so far – Indiana hosts two divisional rivals, fighting hard for the last playoff slot.
Game #1: HAM(2) @ IND (4)

By far the best Indy has played under new management – the mighty Blizzard has been a thorn in the Sycamores’ side all season, but this one was all Indy from the beginning. The home team jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two periods; Hampton scored early in the third to make it interesting, but Toews put it away with his 19th midway through the period.

Hampton tallied with 44 seconds left to make the score look a little better.

Indy outshot Hampton 35-22, won 81%(!!) of faceoffs, and drew 6 penalties.

3 stars: #3 Toews (1G), #2 Bergeron (1G, 18-5 on faceoffs); #1 Doughty (1G, 1A)

Game #2: NJ(3) @ IND (4)

What an exciting game!

Indy jumped out again very quickly, dominating the first 25 minutes of the game, and grabbing a 2-0 lead. Only some great saves by Schneider kept the Grizzlies in it. NJ finally broke through in the second on a goal by Salomaki, but Doughty’s shorthanded goal in the third – his 20th – seemed to put the game away for Indy….

Except Jersey had other plans. 30 seconds later, the Griz cashed in on the power play, and with under 4 minutes to go Salomaki struck again to tie the score. Looked like OT, which has been kryponite for Indy all year..but Bergeron saved the day with a one-time rocket at 18:37 of the third to win the game for Indy.

Stats pretty even – Indy had a slight edge, but this one really could have gone either way.

STARS: #3 Bergeron (1G, 1A) #2 Salomaki (2G) #1 Krejci (2G, 1A)

Weekly Summary:
Combined with the previously-reported win at Thunder Bay, Indy goes 3-0 vs. their divisional rivals. Indy is still very much in the hunt with 18 games to go!
