Chicago Cosa Nostra @ Brentwood Bandits A great back and forth even game that goes to OT tied 2-2 and sees Chicago skate away with the win on the strength of an OT game winner from Dubois (21) with 50 seconds left.

Chicago 3, Brentwood 2 (OT)

WEEKLY SUMMARY: We gotta figure out how to get more shots on goal if we want to compete further. Still unsure if we’re just gonna leave things be, trade to get better, or trade for future.

Tavares and Kessel continue to play well despite not knowing if they will be traded or not.

LA Great Danes
WEEKLY PREVIEW: An extended road trip, with one home game this week after a 4-game road trip before the holiday break. And the Danes come in with a different look, with 6 new players on the roster, 3 via trade and 3 via waiver claims.
Thunder Bay NorWesters @ LA Great Danes 4 of the 6 newcomers are in the lineup, with youngsters Strome and Hintz up front and Ceci and Jordie Benn providing some veteran stability to the 3rd D pairing.

It did not take long for the newcomers to make an impact as Dylan Strome opens the scoring on the power play. But LA gives that goal back when Reilly Smith scores a SHG on a breakaway on the same PP, and Thunder Bay takes a 2-1 lead on a Kyle Connor slapshot.

Jack Roslovic gets the only goal of the 2nd period, with newcomer Ceci getting an assist, and it’s 2-2 heading into the 3rd period. Thunder Bay regains the lead on a Couturier goal at 6:49, but 14 seconds later the Norwesters take a penalty, and Jamie Benn, assisted by brother and new teammate Jordie Benn gets the PPG to tie the game at 3-3.

Dylan Strome takes a hooking penalty with less than 5 minutes left in regulation, but the Danes shut down the Norwesters power play without giving up a shot, and we go to overtime!

It is all Great Danes in the OT as they outshoot TB 6-1 in OT, and Miro Heiskanen scores the OT game-winner to give the home team an exciting victory. The 3 stars were Heiskanen and Jamie Benn from LA and Reilly Smith from Thunder Bay, all with 1G-1A each.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: With the 6 new players and no shot at the playoffs, the Danes will do lots of lineup changes and experiment with all sorts of lineups and game strategy options the rest of the year.

And GEAUX TIGERS!!!

Gilbert Sharks
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Gilbert has 2 home games in Week 11 against 2 of the top teams, Brentwood and Bucks County
Brentwood Bandits @ Gilbert Sharks This one was back and forth the whole way but Gilbert scores the final 2 goals to win 7-5. Mackinnon has 2 goals, including the Game Winner, and 2 assists in the win.
Bucks County Raccoons @ Gilbert Sharks All the scoring from the first game this week was non existant in this one. No score until late in the 2nd when each team puts one in. It remains tied 1-1 until less than 3 miuntes in the game when Cam Atkinson nets the game winner for a 2-1 Gilbert win.
WEEKLY SUMMARY: 2 completely different games but Gilbert wins both suprisingly
Alamo Defenders
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Off the break, Alamo hosts two first place teams, Bucks County and Thunder Bay.
Bucks County Raccoons @ Alamo Defenders Alamo off to a good start against Bishop and scores 2 by Stamkos and Greene. Doughty and Wilson score for the Raccoons to tie it up. Mid-way through the 2nd, Khaira scores for Alamo and its 3-2, Alamo. With 58 seconds to go, Maier scores to tie it. The Raccoons win it in OT on a Hyman goal.

Bucks County 4 Alamo 3 (OT)

1- Doughty
2-Meier
3-Hyman

Thunder Bay NorWesters @ Alamo Defenders Alamo gets on the board first on a Draisaitl goal. But, the NorWesters score 5 unanswered to goals. Alamo gets a goal in the 3rd by Wheeler but its much too late.

Thunder Bay 5 Alamo 2

1-Smith
2-Couturier
3-Connor

WEEKLY SUMMARY: Alamo takes one point while playing Bucks County and Thunder Bay.
Bucks County Raccoons
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Two home games after the break against LA and JAGR
LA Great Danes @ Bucks County Raccoons Conner McDavid scores his 2nd goal of the game with 1:28 left in the third period to break a 2-2 tie and enable the Bucks County Raccoons to escape with a 3-2 win over the LA Great Danes. LA out shot the home team by 38-23 but Ben Bishop was stellar in goal and was the key to the Raccoon victory.
Jagr Mullets @ Bucks County Raccoons BC had no answer for the top line of the Mullets as Radulov-Ovechkin-Bergeron combined for 4 goals and 12 points as Jagr defeated Bucks County 5-2. The game was tied at 1 entering the third period but the big line of Jagr struck for 3 goals in the first 8 minutes of the period to put the game away for the Mullets.
WEEKLY SUMMARY: A fortunate 2 points against LA and a very disappointing showing against one of the leagues best teams in Jagr
Thunder Bay Nor’Westers
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Two home games vs Lafayette and California
Lafayette Homesteaders @ Yellowknife Braves This game starts slowly – holiday handovers. Barkov opens the scoring in the 1st giving Thunder Bay a 1=0 lead. Matt Duschene counters in the second and heading into the 3rd period the game is knotted 1-1.

Then everything falls apart. 6 goals are scored three a side sending the game into OT.
Thunder Bay goals by Landeskog, O’Reilly and Nyquist. Lafayette goals by Kuchervov scores twice and Brown once.

In OT newly signed Nick Jensen scores his 1st goal and gives the Nor’Westers a win at home 5-4

California Regulators @ Thunder Bay NorWesters This game starts the same as the last game ended 6 goals in the 1st period that is 12 goals in the last 40 minutes of play. Can anybody play defense??????

Cali jumps to a 4-2 lead on goals by Nelson, Getzlaf, Reinhardt and Huberdeau. The Nor’Westers get goals from Athanasiou and Petry.

The 2nd period sees just a single goal by Thunder Bay’s Andreas Johsson and that closes the gap to 1 with Cali leading 4-3.

Thunder Bay’s Kyle Conner scores to tie the game 4-4, but Huberdeau with his 2nd of the games wins it for Cali 5-4.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: Wild Wild games.
Lafayette Homesteaders

Chicago Cosa Nostra @ Lafayette Homesteaders Chicago wins 1-0 in a tight game
Cincinnati Inferno @ Lafayette Homesteaders Inferno score late in the game to with 6-5
WEEKLY SUMMARY: 2 games …zero points seems soooooooooooooooooooooooo right
Jagr Mullets
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Two home games this week.
Charlotte Buzzards @ Jagr Mullets Charlotte comes to town and is shell-shocked as Bergeron (15) scores just 54 seconds into the game. Things settle down and it becomes a defensive showdown – ultimately, Jagr wins it 2-1 behind Kuemper’s 19th win of the year.

Both goalies get assists in the game. Go figure.

LA Great Danes @ Jagr Mullets Jagr’s decision to rest Auston Matthews, Kris Letang, Shea Weber, and others backfires as the Great Danes steal it 3-2 behind a strong performance in net by Semyon Varlamov.

JT Miller collects his first point of the season for the home team; he looks to score bucketloads next season. Be patient, JT.

John Gibson continues to disappoint in net for the Mullets, clearly unhappy with his 3rd string status. Suck it up, cupcake.

Cincinnati Inferno
WEEKLY PREVIEW: The Cincinnati Inferno host a pair of games this week, as Alamo and Bathgate roll into the Queen City.
Alamo Defenders @ Cincinnati Inferno Alamo 3, Cincinnati 2

Alamo explodes for three first period goals and then holds on to claim the 3-2 win. Blake Wheeler (GWG) and Steven Stamkos each had a goal and an assist.

Robin Lehner (16-6-2) turned away 39 shots in collecting the win, while Casey DeSmith (2-7-1), lost in his Inferno debut.

Bathgate Rangers @ Cincinnati Inferno Cincinnati 5, Bathgate 3

Goals 40 seconds apart in the third period by Jeff Skinner and Sidney Crosby broke a 2-2 tie and led the Inferno to the victory. Thomas Hertl netted a pair of goals for the Rangers in the loss.

Bathgate won the shots battle in this one, 40-32, including a stiffling defensive effort in the second period that saw Cincinnati fire just five shots on goal. Casey DeSmith (3-7-1) picked up the win with 37 saves, while Jaroslav Halak (11-8-1) turned away 31 shots in the loss.

The Rangers capitalized on the poor penalty kill of Cincinnati, by lighting the lamp twice in four attempts.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: Cincinnati gains a split on the week against two pretty good teams and will look ahead to next week to try to right the ship.
Toledo Walleye
WEEKLY PREVIEW: The Toledo management was busy over the break, trading 3 players and waiving 2 others. The new look Walleye welcome the Homesteaders and Sharks, fellow cellar dwellers, into the Huntington Arena.
Lafayette Homesteaders @ Toledo Walleye Lafayette 6, Toledo 5 – Lafayette opens the scoring with Duchene, 8 minutes into the game. Toledo responds with 2 goals, Lindell and Krejci, the later on a powerplay thanks to a Hutton penalty, and the 1st ends 2-1 Toledo.

2nd period sees Lafayette even it up early with Forsberg scoring, only to be answered 2 minutes later as van Riemsdyk puts one in. Things muddle along about 10 mintues, and then Brown ties it up at 3 with a goal by Brown, only to see Connolly answer just before intermission, and the game goes to break at 4-3 Toledo.

3rd is a defensive struggle for 14 minutes with both goalies standing tall. Then the dam breaks, first with Lindell getting his 2nd of the game to make it 5-3, and then the Homesteaders play like a Stanley Cup team, scoring 3 goals in the last 5 minutes, with Gostisbehere and then 2 by Kucherov, the first on a powerplay. and the home crowd goes home tragically deflated, 6-5

1st star – Kucherov 2G 4pts
2nd – Lindell 2G
3rd – Forsberg 1G 3pts

Gilbert Sharks @ Toledo Walleye Toledo 4, Gilbert 2 – Gilbert gets the lone goal in a tight first period when Ennis scores early. The goalies play tough, with Dubnyk stopping 19 of 20 in just the first period. 1-0 Gilbert.

2nd period sees the Walleye even things up on the powerplay, thanks to a penalty by Holden, and Arvidsson scores. Gilbert retakes the lead on a goal by Tkachuk. Period ends 2-1 Gilbert.

3rd period is all Toledo. Connolly ties it at 2 with a powerplay goal, this time Savard gets to watch from the sin bin. The tie game goes another tense 10 minutes until Pettersson blasts one in, with 2 minutes to go, to break the ties and make it 3-2. As Gilbert goes all in and pulls the goalie, Lindell gets the insurance tally into an empty net, making the final 4-2

1st star – Dubnyk 43 saves
2nd – Pettersson 1G 2pts
3rd – Mantha 3A

WEEKLY SUMMARY: A split at home against fellow cellar dwellers. I think that validates our position in the standings.

Kucherov a great outing for the Homesteaders with 2 assists, plus the tying and winning goals in the last 3 minutes of the game. An MVP performance.

Lindell a breakout homestand with 3 goals in 2 games.

Bathgate Rangers
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Holiday break is over and the Rangers spend most of this week living out of suit cases – first 3 games on the road – but finally home hosting Guentzel….
Guentzel Gunners @ Bathgate Rangers Guenztel comes out firing in the 1st with 15 of their shots getting on net – but Georgiev stops them all. They only manage 16 more shots in the game with Zuccarello putting one past Georgiev. That was the only goal for the Gunners. Holtby started off the same way – stopping all 10 Rangers shots in the 1st. But then ZBad and McCann put 2 by him within the first 6 minutes of the 2nd period. Then Provorov scores late in the 3rd to put the game on ice (sorry about that) and the Rangers take it 3-1. Statistically the numbers were pretty even except that the Rangers has 2 more saves than Guentzel.
STARS (all BGR)
1. Georgiev 30 saves
2. Provorov 1 goal
3. Zibanejad 1 goal
WEEKLY SUMMARY: 1 game – 1 win, can’t do better than that…..
Charlotte Buzzards
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Slumping Charlotte finds itself in clear danger of falling out of a playoff spot. It hosted Alamo on January 15.
Alamo Defenders @ Charlotte Buzzards The Buzzards ownership would be wealthy if it collected a nickel for every game the team coughed up in the final minute this season (gotta love the simulation engine). This latest collapse comes courtesy of Steve Stamkos who beats Carey Price twice in the final 1:25 of the third period to rally the Defenders late to the stunning 4-3 win. The game winner from Stamkos comes with :59 left. Mitch Marner scored two consecutive goals earlier in the third period to give Charlotte a shortlived 3-2 lead. Charlotte outshot Alamo 44-24 and leads TOA by nearly a 2 to 1 ratio 5:54 to 3:08, yet lost.

Three stars:
Star 1 – ALA Stamkos 2 G, 3 points
Star 2 – CHA Marner 2 G
Star 3 – ALA Marchand 1 G (the first of the game), 2 pts

Notable: Joonas Korpisalo stands on his head to the tune of 41 saves to lead Alamo.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: Charlotte drops this home game and multiple games on the road lately and now hover around .500, losing significant ground to Thunder Bay in the Atlantic.

Games simmed by League Office:

At Guentzel —–  Guentzel 6, Toledo 5 / Guentzel 6, LA 5  /  Jagr 4, Guentzel 1
