Bathgate Rangers
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Rangers doing some roster adjustments find themselves with 1 home game this week – waiting to see how Nugent-Hopkins and Sanheim pan out. However, the home game is against JAGR – that makes life tough. And we have a road game there this week as well.
Jagr Mullets @ Bathgate Rangers Rangers start early as McCann tallies a minute into the game – and N-H is part of the helpers! The lead however, is short lived. Lindholm scores 2 minutes later and Ekholm scores midway through the 1st and the period ends with the Mullets up 2-1.
2nd period – the teams match goals. Tkachuk for Jagr, Anderson (with help from N-H) for the Rangers.
3rd period – Rangers holding tough at 3-2 when the puck is dropped and just before the 3 minute mark Hertl scores on a PP. The PP was a 4 minute high sticking penalty assessed to Pulock just before the 2nd period ended. So now it’s 3-3! THEN Jagr gets a hat trick (EV, PP and EN goal) to finish out the period, dash our hopes, and show why they are the best team. Radulov got the both the even strength and PP goals – Parise got the empty netter.
STARS (all Jagr)
1. Radulov 2 goals
2. Tkachuk 1 goal, 2 assists
3. Lindholm 1 goal, 2 assists
WEEKLY SUMMARY: Well – one home game, no points as we boost the Mullets record by adding a W to their line. Newcomer Nugent-Hopkins did pick up 2 assists in the losing effort and showed some flash…
LA Great Danes
WEEKLY PREVIEW: A single home game against California
California Regulators @ LA Great Danes The Great Danes actually play an outstanding game but fall to the regulators by a 5-2 score, with 2 empty netters inflating the final score.

It was 2-2 after one, and the game winner for Cal came on Mark Stone PPG midway through the second. LA outshot Cal 42-23, but Grubauer came up big for Cal with 40 saves as he faced 20 scoring chances incuding numerous point-blank shots by LA.

Jack Roslovic for LA was the game’s #1 star, as he moved up to the 3rd line after his stellar 4th line play this season. Roslovic scored LA’s only 2 goals, both in the first period, and was robbed on 2 wraparounds and another glorious chance, as he had 6 SOG, all in the first 2 periods.

Reinhart and Faulk with 1G-1A each for Cal were the other stars, although in my book Grubauer was the clear #2 star.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: We will see if Jack Roslovic’s breakout MWHL season continues on the road this week as he moves up to the 3rd line. Next week we may see a Jet line of Scheifele-Ehlers-Roslovic as the line juggling continues as the Danes continue to look ahead to 2020-21.

Cincinnati Inferno
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Cincinnati welcomes the entire Atlantic Division to The Incinerator this week.
Charlotte Buzzards @ Cincinnati Inferno CINCINNATI 6, CHARLOTTE 5 (OT)

Brayden Point’s 33rd goal of the season, and second of the night, at 2:04 of overtime was the difference in this one.

The extra time dramatics were set up by a three goal explosion by the Inferno early in the third period over a 1:54 stretch to take a 5-3 lead. Alex Tuch’s eleventh goal with 1:44 remaining knotted the game at five and forced the extra frame.

Sidney Crosby was the first star of the game, collecting a goal, a pair of assists for three points and won 19 faceoffs.

Shots on goal favored Cincinnati, 40-28. Casey DeSmith was the winner with 23 stops, while Carey Price turned aside 34 attempts.

Thunder Bay @ Cincinnati Inferno THUNDER BAY 4, CINCINNATI 3

Gabriel Laneskog’s second goal of the night at 16:10 of the third closed out the scoring in the win for the division-leading Nor’Westers. Aleksander Barkov had a goal and two assists for Thunder Bay.

Pekka Rinne collected the win with 31 saves and Casey DeSmith took the loss, turning away 26.

The shot battle was won by Cincinnati, 34-30, but Thunder Bay was especially focused in the defensive end–blocking another 29 shots.

Guentzel Gunners @ Cincinnati Inferno CINCINNATI 5, GUENTZEL 4 (OT)

Brayden Point’s second goal of the night (and 35th of the year) at 4:09 of overtime ended this one.

Cincinnati opened a 3-2 lead after one, on the strength of three goals in a 3:37 stretch. The Gunners held the lead (4-3) after two, when Austin Watson delivered his seventh of the year with just four seconds left in the frame. William Karlsson picked up his sixth goal 51 seconds into the third to close out scoring in regulation.

Ryan Suter delivered three assists, including a helper on the game-winner for Cincinnati. Guentzel won the shots battle, 40-34–while the Inferno went two-for-four on the power play, while the Gunners went one-for-four.

Connor Hellebuyckrerouted 36 shots in the win, while Braden Holtby stopped 29.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: Three one-goal games for Cincinnati this week, including a pair of overtime wins. The playoff stretch run is going to be interesting in the Queen City, as the Inferno are hoping to get into the postseason after missing out by a single point last year.
Jagr Mullets
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Two home games this week.
Bathgate Rangers @ Jagr Mullets First up is Bathgate, and they come to town with a chip on their shoulder. Down 2-0 near the end of the 2nd, Bathgate gets a goal from Zibanejad (26) at 18:38 to make it a one goal game. Then Buchnevich (10) beats Gibson at 12:07 of the 3rd to tie it up.

We head to overtime, where Patrice Bergeron spoils the upset attempt as he beats Halak for his 2nd goal of the game (22nd overall) for the game winner 3-2.

Brentwood Bandits @ Jagr Mullets Always circled on the calendar, it’s another Battle of the Brothers ™!

The Mullets strike first, second, and third and take a 3-0 lead after two.

But then John Tavares gets jiggy wit it, and pots a pair of goals on Kuemper to make it 3-2. With 54 seconds left, the Bandits can’t beat Kuemper again and they fall 3-2.

Toledo Walleye
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Only one home game this week as the Walleye try to aviod falling prey to the crafty Raccoons.
Bucks County Raccoons @ Toledo Walleye Bucks County 4, Walleye 3, SO

McDavid reminds everybody just how good he really is, scoring a goal just 91 seconds into the game on the first zone entry by the visitors. Toledo answers mid period as Barrie shoots from the unfamiliar middle in area, and Bailey adds one 5 minutes later to put the Fish up 2-1. Quickly after that, Hayes is whistled for tripping and the home crowd smells blood with th e 5 on 4 coming up. But the Raccoons are up to the challange, killing the penalty off, and the 1st peiod drifts off to intermission at 2-1 Walleye.

2nd period the defenses stiffen, and the only shooter to break through is Shaw, with the equalizer at 4 mintues in. Nemeth and Bouwmeester toussle a bit at the midpoint. But the other 19 shots die in the period die harmlessly and its 2-2 going to the 3rd.

Barrie breaks the tie at the mid point of the 3rd, after the Raccoons kill off a Kane penalty, and with hopes rising high for a home win, its Vesey with the heart breaker at just under 3 minutes to go, making it 3-3.

Both teams get chances in OT for the win, but no cigar. And it the shootout, McDavid notches the first tally, with Pettersson matching in the 2nd stanza, only to see Shaw punch one in, which allows van Riemsdyk to fail miserably with the final attempt to push the shootout into extra innings. Raccoons win the shootout 2-1, and take the 2 pts.

1st star – Barrie 2G
2nd – Shaw 1G 2pts – tying goal and winner in the SO
3rd – Bailey 1G

WEEKLY SUMMARY: Disappointing loss, seeing the defensive breakdown to allow the tie, and then weak performance in the shootout. Only one point in 1 game this week
Guentzel Gunners
WEEKLY PREVIEW: The struggling Gunners host one game this week against Cincinnati, who is second in division
Cincinnati Inferno @ Guentzel Gunners Cincinnati gets a goal with 6:02 left in the game from Crosby to break open a tie game and then sealed the win with an empty netter from Crosby with 48 secons remaining

Star #1 – Hellebuyck 18 saves
Star #2 – Crosby 2 goals
Star #3 – Gallagher 1 assist

Brentwood Bandits @ Lafayette Homesteaders Brentwood 5 Laf 2
Bathgate Rangers @ Lafayette Homesteaders Bathgate 4 Laf 1
Jagr Mullets @ Lafayette Homesteaders Jagr 4 Laf 5
WEEKLY SUMMARY: 2 points out of 6 but hey we beat Jagr
Bucks County Raccoons
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Crunch time for the Raccoons as they host all three division opponents. As they say in the baking business….’time to make the donuts’….
Yellowknife Braves @ Bucks County Raccoons Tie game after 2 until Malkin scores 5 minutes into the 3rd. Bucks County presses but can’t get the equalizer and this critical home stand starts off with a 2-1 loss to Yellowknife.
Chicago Cosa Nostra @ Bucks County Raccoons Critical matchup with the division lead at stake. Pastrnak scores 28 seconds into the game, Chicago scores TWO short handed goals, the Raccoons go 0-5 on the power play, but Bucks County shows some resilience to twice rally from 1 goal deficits and get the win on a Bellemare goal with 2:24 left in the third period to come away with a 4-3 victory.
Toledo Walleye @ Bucks County Raccoons Conner McDavid notches the game winner 49 seconds into the 3rd period and BC clamps down on Toledo for a 2-1 win.
WEEKLY SUMMARY: Getting 4 of 6 points against division rivals at home is a good recipe for the Raccoons as they temporarily take the lead in the Central Division while only allowing 6 goals in the 3 games.
Charlotte Buzzards
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Charlotte, after a disastrous month that erased a top record, finds itself hovering around .500 and needing to catch fire in order to make a bid for the postseason. It hosted division rivals Thunder Bay and Guentzel in its latest home games.
Thunder Bay NorWesters @ Charlotte Buzzards Playing against the most improved team in the league over last season, the Buzzards cough up (yet again) a last moment lead and falter 6-5 to the NorWesters — and fail to gain even a point. With 3:45 in the third, Thunder Bay’s Kyle Connor (two goals) scores a tying tally on assists from Colton Parayko and Ryan O’Reilly. Just 51 seconds later, NorWester forward Andreas Athanasiou hammers home the game winner. Charlotte had overcome a 2-0 lead and dominated the middle part of the game with goals from five different scorers. Andreas Johnsson also spearheaded Thunder Bay with two goals to go with Connor’s pair.
GAME #2:Guentzel Gunners @ Charlotte Buzzards The Buzzards rebound against Guentzel, outscoring the gunners 3-1 in the second period to nail down a 5-2 victory. Charlotte center Colton Sissons breaks open a 1-1 tie game with two consecutive second period goals, followed by a Jon Marchessault power play goal with 1:03 left to play in the period. Austin Watson and Mikael Granlund account for the two Guentzel goals, and Charlotte’s Vladimir Tarasenko adds an empty net goal with 1:22 left in the game.
WEEKLY SUMMARY: In choking against Thunder Bay, Charlotte squanders a chance to get at least three points in two home games, and must settle for two — another missed opportunity in a season filled with them.
Gilbert Sharks
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Gilbert has 2 divisional home games versus Alamo and LA
Alamo Defenders @ Gilbert Sharks Artemi Panarin scores the only goal of the shootout to give Gilbert the victory
LA Great Danes @ Gilbert Sharks Jamie Benn scores with just 36 seconds left to give LA a 3-2 win
WEEKLY SUMMARY: Gilbert goes 1-1 at home in Week 15
Brentwood Bandits
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Bandits are hanging on to a playoff spot. Two home games.
Bathgate Rangers @ Brentwood Bandits Bathgate scores 2 in the 3rd period to steal one on the road 4-3.

Star 1: BGR Zibanejad 2 G
Star 2: BGR Hertl 1 G, 2 Pts
Star 3: BGR Nugent-Hopkins 1 G

Notables: BGR None
BWB Murray 30 saves, Horvat 17 faceoffs won

Lafayette Homesteaders @ Brentwood Bandits Bandits were winning 4-2 entering the 3rd. Lafayette scores 2 quick goals in the 1st minute to tie it 4-4, but Tavares (32) scores less than a minute after to take a 5-4 lead, and 3 minutes later Kessel (17) gives the Bandits their 2 goal lead back, and that’s how it would end.

Star 1: BWB Kessel 2 G, 3 Pts
Star 2: BWB Tavares 1 G, 4 Pts
Star 3: LAF Duchene 2 G

GWG: John Tavares

Notables: LAF Larsson 5 blocks
BWB Tavares 3 assists, Tavares 16 faceoffs won

WEEKLY SUMMARY: Bandits go 1-1 and get 2 points. Could have been worse. Hanging on to a playoff spot. No wheeling and dealing happening here. Expecting a rebuilding year and making the playoffs is a bonus! Should we make them, that is. Still a lot of hockey left down the stretch!
California Regulators
LA Great Danes @ California Regulators California beats LA 5-0
Alamo Defenders @ California Regulators Alamo beats division rival California 5-3
Gilbert Sharks @ California Regulators California beats Gilbert 3-1
