That’s short-lived, however… Tanev pots a back-breaking goal with 5 seconds left in the 2nd to put the deficit back to two goals.

Jagr never gives up, however — and John Carlson scores his 6th of the year at 10:24 of the 3rd to make it a one goal game. Things get frantic at the end when Jagr pulls the goalie… but the Lumberjacks stand tall and preserve the 3-2 victory.

In a penalty filled 1st period, Chicago converts their first powerplay at the 5 minute mark to take an early lead and create an uneasy calm in the arena. Chicago gets 1 more opportunity on the powerplay in the 1st but cannot convert, and the goalies dominate the rest of the period which ends with Chicago up 1.

The 2nd period opens with 2 quick penalties on Lansing, but the PK unit is up to the task and the game continues to the 10 minute mark with Chicago leading. Lansing finally breaks the shutout with goals by Stafford and Anisimov to flip the advantage and the place livens up again. It looks like the damn will burst open when Chicago commits 2 quick penalties and Lansing gets a 2 man advantage. But the Cosa Nostra is up to the task and fends off the Lansing PP units to keep the difference at 1. As things wind down in the period Chicago is the beneficiary of a penalty by Campbell and the PP unit overwhelms Hellebuyck to even the game at 2 apiece as the 2nd period ends.

The Summit gets quiet again as Lansing opens up the 3rd with a penalty. But the PK unit is up to the challenge and Chicago cannot convert. Most of the period sees the puck in the Lansing end of the rink and when the home team commits another penalty, the crowd fears the worst. The Lansing PK unit is not only up to the task, but is able to find a chink in the Cosa Nostra armor and not once, but twice get a rush going and convert both times to tally 2 shorties on the same penalty to break the game open to a 4-2 advantage. Chicago then gets much more aggressive trying to even the match up, giving up numerous rush opportunities and the Caps convert one more to make the final 5-2 Lansing.

Only two minutes into the game, and Corktown nets the first goal on a re-direct by Panik.

However, Alamo scores 5 unanswered goals to win the game. Wheeler, Eaves, Hansen, Marchand, and Seguin all score for Alamo. Greiss earns the win.

Another PP for Lansing, another goal! Chimera (15) from Ward (20) and Hamonic (18) 2-1 Lansing leads.
2:20 later Dion Phaneuf scores an unassisted goal (5) after a steal at the to keep the puck in the zone and rips a slapshot bust Dubnyk to tie it at 2.
40 seconds later Daniel Sedin nets #20 to give Brentwood the 3-2 lead.
Hamonic ties it again 3-3 with his 7th of the season.

Period 3
We’re all tied up.
Malkin scores 2:11 in to the 3rd, his 30th of the season. 4-3 Bandits.
2 minutes later Ward scores for the 3rd PP goal of the game for Lansing. His 21st on the season. Tied 4-4

Bandits end the regular season at home with a bang! It was ALL the second line today as Crosby, Malkin, and Parenteau stay off of the score sheet and Sedin, Marleau, and Niederreiter burn out the light bulbs on the red lamps! Ekman-Larsson with a 5 assist night could have sealed his “Norris” season.

Now it’s retool the team, see who will stay, see what free agents they can sign, see who they draft. Both prospects will be seeing time on ice next year and they should get some early picks in the Prospect draft. And with the scoring race coming to a close – there is still excitement brewing in the clubhouse and city!

Minneapolis opens the scoring 3 minutes into the game when Brassard won a clean faceoff in the offensive end and Huberdeau fed it right back for Brassard’s 33rd of the year. Patrick Sharp (21) extended the lead to two 5 minutes later on a hard one-timer from Schenn. This one is turning out to be a high scoring game as Chara (12) blasts one past Lunqvist to get Wausau on the board only 40 seconds later to make it 2-1. Aaand only 18 seconds later, Chara skates it across the Minneapolis blue line and sets up Kopitar (22) with a one-timer to even the score at 2-2 with 11:20 remaining in the first period. Things would calm down a bit after that, and the period ends at a 2-2 tie.

The second period featured chances at both ends, including 3 powerplay opportunities for the Lumberjacks, but the goaltenders won the second period and kept the score tied at 2.

Less than 2 minutes into the third period Zuccarello (36) puts Wausau in the lead after a defensive breakdown left him alone in front of the net. 3-2 Lumberjacks. Wausau would keep the pressure on for the rest of the period, and Minneapolis would shoot themselves in the foot by taking two more penalties. Wausau wins 3-2.

For the second straight game Brassard (34) gets minneapolis on the board first, this time on a breakaway after Donskoi coughed up the puck in the neutral zone. With 7:41 left in the first period Brassard (35) gets his second of the game on a beautiful redirect from Markov. Minneapolis leads 2-0, and Brassard ties Eriksson for the team lead with 35 goals on the season. After a dominating performance in the first period, Minneapolis has outshot the Rangers 18-3 and leads 2-0.

Bathgate take control and puts the pressure on Minneapolis for much of the second period including two powerplays, and outshoots Minneapolis 15-8 in the period, but Neuvirth stops it all and we go into the second period with the Deep Freeze still leading 2-0.

Just over one minute into the third period, Eriksson gets a one-timer from Boyle in front of the net. He’s unable to put it away, but Rinne lets it bounce back out and Eriksson (36) puts in his own rebound to retake the team lead in goals and make it 3-0 for Minneapolis. 8 minutes into the period, Klingberg (6) beat Neuvirth with a wrist shot from the point to break the shutout. Minneapolis still leads 3-1.

Minneapolis enters their last game of the season having already seen the results of California’s games, and knows that they are locked in to second place in the Western Conference, unable to catch the Regulators.

Minneapolis gets off to a rough start and Indiana strikes first when Raffl (6) beat Lundqvist from the point. Neither team would score again in the first with both goalies making some good saves, and Indiana goes to the locker room leading 1-0.

After a back-and-forth start to the second period, Indiana extends the lead to 2 when Read (5) scores a powerplay goal. Minneapolis apparently doesn’t want to get back into the game, as Seidenberg and Bartkowski take penalties 1 minute apart creating a 5-on-3 opportunity for Indiana to end the second period and start the third.

Thankfully Lundqvist stands his ground and prevents Indiana from capitalizing on the powerplay opportunities, and Minneapolis comes out in the third playing the brand of hockey that got them to the top of the division. Doan sets up Huberdeau (8) to get Minneapolis on the board and cut the Sycamore lead to 1. 30 seconds later, Schenn (22) beat Lack to tie the game at 2 on a tic-tac-toe play from Sharp and Getzlaf. With Datsyuk in the box for holding, Bergeron blasts a one-timer from Jagr past Lundqvist into the back of the Deep Freeze net to give Indiana the 3-2 lead with only 21 seconds remaining. Minneapolis wins the ensuing faceoff and rushes it down the ice but is unable to get a shot off before time expires, and Indiana wins 3-2.

The usually disciplined Deep Freeze will need to get their penalties under control if they are going to make a deep run in the playoffs.
