Chicago Cosa Nostra Chicago playing very poorly on the road & at home, so things are not looking good as Chicago has only one home game against Division rival Minneapolis Deep Freeze.
Minneapolis Deep Freeze @ Chicago Cosa Nostra Chicago scores early in the 2nd period (29 seconds in as Pastrnak gets his 8th, assisted by Kreider & Toews for the first goal of the contest.
Tkachuk gets his 7th a little less than 4 minutes later from Hossa & Pavelski.
But just over a minute later Chicago gets the game winner from Manson’s hard shot from the Blue Line (His 6th), with an assist to Nuget-Hopkins.Juuse Saros allows one goal on 37 shots by the Deep Freeze & is the 1st Star of the game.Final Score: Chicago 2 – Minneapolis 1
Weekly Summary: Chicago wins it’s only home game of the week & knows things won’t be so pretty on the road.

Thunder Bay Nor’Westers Thunder Bay is a team built on 3 strong lines rolling at you with a solid yet simple defensive scheme. Where we have struggled is in the Net. James Reimer and Ben Bishop have both played below expectation and both contracts end in 2018. Word is out that it is very likely one the one playing the best over the 2nd half of the season will be re-signed.
Corktown Suds @ Thunder Bay Nor’Westers Thunder Bay dominated the 1st period jumping to a 3-0 lead on goals by Seth Jones(12), Couturier(11), Muzzin(8).
Each team added a goal in the second. Alexander Barkov coming off an extended injury, netted his 9th of the season and Panik(14) for Corktown. After 40 minutes Thunder Bay leads 4-1.
The Nor’Westers came back strong and scored 3 more goals to make the final 7-1.
Gabe Landeskog, recently promoted to the 3rd line scored his 5th of the year, Barkov scored again his 10th) and Calle Jarnkrok scored his 7th.
Reimer opened the goalie challenge with a strong performance and a win.
Lakeland Flying Tigers @ Thunder Bay Nor’Westers In a back and forth 1st period each team netted a goal. T.J. Oshie(12) for Lakeland and Sean Couturier(12) for the home team. 1-1 after 1.
After an off game against the Suds the night before, Thunder Bay’s hot 2nd line now with O’Reilly at the pivot scored again as Andreas Athanasiou scored his 13th of the season.
After 2 Thunday leads 2-1.
In the 3rd period Thunder Bay never let off the gas scoring twice more to finish out the contest with a 4-1 win. Landeskog scored his 6th and Athanasiou his 14th. Ben Bishop showed he is also ready to battle for the goalie job with a strong .974 save %.
New Jersey Grizzlies @ Thunder Bay Nor’Westers Looking for a home sweep, the Nor’Westers score first on Sean Couturier’s 13th goal of the season and giving the home team the lead after 20 minutes 1-0.
The 2nd period was a battle and Braden Holtby showed why he is quite possibly the best goalie in the league. He was unbeatable in the 2nd period. After 40 minutes Thunder Bay still leads 1-0.
The battle for the basement of the Atlantic Division was still at stake. Daniel Sedin (5) scored to tie the game and then Viktor Arvidsson scored his 22nd goal of the season and the game winner.
Braden Holtby was the 1st star facing 38 shots and giving up just a single goal. Ben Bishop had his 2nd solid outing giving up just 2 goals on 25 shot but 8 good scoring chances.
Both goalies appear to have risen to management’s challenge.
Weekly Summary: Offense is fine and the defense has been solid and this week the goal tending was strong. Thunder Bay easily could have swept all 3 home games had it not been for the Grizzlies goalie Brayden Holtby. Holtby was unbeatable.

Corktown Suds A pair of home games for the Suds, as they slowly fade away from the playoff picture.
Hampton Blizzard @ Corktown Suds Corktown takes the 2 points that Hampton really needed. Pulls the Suds closer to the Blizzard in the standings.

Corktown 3-0
Greiss 31 saves in the shutout

Clearfield Bison @ Corktown Suds Clearfield extends their division lead with a shutout victory over the Suds.

Clearfield 2-0

Weekly Summary: Clearfield wins this pair of matchups having Corktown take down Hampton as they beat Corktown.

Clearfield Bison With 6 of the next 8 on the road, many against division rivals…Clearfield faces the ‘meat grinder’ portion of the schedule. Can the Bison wibn their only home tilt against the Grizzlies?
New Jersey Grizzlies @ Clearfield Bison Not a lot of suspense in this one. Clearfield scored the first three goals of the game…and despite playing shorthanded much of the game (6 NJ power plays), the Bison were never really threatened after the midway mark of the game. The Bison PK was especially strong, killing every Grizzly man advantage.

Despite giving up four goals, Holtby was actually pretty darn good – he stopped 5 or 6 breakaways and 2-on-1’s in the game. The main culprit seemed to be the NJ blue line.

The Bison 4th line had a great game – they were responsible for 2 of the goals and much of the PK time.

Faceoffs, shots, and scoring chances favored the Bison. New Jersey had more attack time and shot attempts.

Stars: I’m overriding the system. #1 Hertl 2A,+1, 6:56 ok PK time. #2 Chimera 2A, +1, 4 minutes of PK time #3 Bergeron 1G, 63% on faceoffs.

Weekly Summary: Clearfield ‘holds serve’ and wins their only home game of this set.

Hampton Blizzard Hampton takes on powerhouses Clearfield, Thunder Bay and Brentwood this week.
Clearfield Bison @ Hampton Blizzard Clearfield goalie Craig Anderson was a very different person from the one that blanked the Blizzard earlier this season. It was the Anders Lee show as the Islanders winger scored a hat trick and added two assists in a 6-4 Hampton win over Clearfield.

Other scorers included Rakell with 2, Maroon, and Bergeron for Clearfield. Jensen, Rantanen, and Backlund counted for Hampton.

Thunder Bay Nor’Westers @ Hampton Blizzard Hampton got a huge scare from Thunder Bay as the visitors came back from a 5-0 deficit just 2 minutes into the 2nd period to lose by a narrow 6-4 margin.

Highlights of this game included a ass-whooping delivered by Evgeni Malkin on Gabriel Landeskog … what’s with Malkin … I think that was his 5th fight of the year … and Zaitsev getting three minor penalties for Thunder Bay.

Scorers in this one were:
Thunder Bay – Smith, O’Reilly, Landeskog, and Barkov.
Hampton – Larkin, Malkin, Stastny, Lee, Point, Trocheck

Brentwood Bandits @ Hampton Blizzard High octane Brentwood offense beat Carey Price three times but only two counted as Brentwood fell 4-2 to Hampton.

Scoring:
Brentwood: Crosby (plus one called back), Guentzel
Hampton: Forsberg, Bjorkstrand, Trocheck, Backlund

Weekly Summary: After a pathetic showing last week at home Hampton elevated its game this week coming away with 6 of 6 possible points.

Jagr Mullets Jagr hosts two games this week.
Game #1 – Home Team: Jagr Mullets
Brentwood Bandits Division and brotherly rivals meet up at the Mulletdome. The talking heads predicted lots of goals in this matchup, and they weren’t wrong.

Hampus Lindholm scores less than a minute into the game for Jagr… but wait, it’s waived off! And as a perfect example of how our season has gone, Brentwood’s John Tavares scores seconds later on the first Bandit shot of the game to make it 1-0 bad guys.

Undettered, Jagr continues their assault on John Gibson and quickly collects two goals at 2:27 (Elias Lindholm, 3) and 3:53 (Alexander Radulov, 10). Brentwood answers right back, with Sidney Crosby (18) potting a goal at 4:22.

So less than 5 minutes in, it’s a 2-2 game with a disallowed goal. I hope those nachos were worth it for the fans that didn’t get seated for the Anthem.

John Tavares scores his 19th goal of the year (and 2nd of the game) early in tehe 2nd, and early in the 3rd Jake Guentzel (12) puts one behind Vasilevskiy to give the Bandits a 4-2 lead. Will it hold?

At 12:50 of the 3rd, Mikael Granlund (11) beats Gibson to make it a 4-3 game. With 90 seconds left, Jagr pulls the goalie — and Alexander Ovechkin (17) strikes with 18 seconds left to tie it up and force OT!

In the 3 on 3 OT that follows, Jagr totally dominates play, collecting 4 shots that are turned away… then Brentwood takes it down the other end and Jake Guentzel (13) blasts one into the twine to take the extra point and send the Jagr fans home frustrated and angry.

Jagr’s team stats dominate Brentwood in practically every category, but as is their custom this season they find a way to lose.

Lakeland Flying Tigers @ Jagr Mullets After a shearing loss in OT to Brentwood, how with the Mullets respond against Lakeland?

Quickly and with fury.

34 seconds into the game, Jordal Staal (6) beats Martin Jones, with assists by Laine (17) and Ovechkin (25).

At 14:02 of the 1st, Morgan Rielly scores his first goal of the season, with helpers from Laine and Ovie.

Then, at 6:44 of the 2nd, Daniel Winnik decides to pop his cherry and also scores his first goal of the year, with helpers from blueliners Nurse (5) and Rielly (1).

Jonathan Quick’s bid for the shutout goes up in smoke as Steen (5) beats him. Alexander Radulov (11) scores at 11:47 to make it 4-1, and the score holds up as Jagr collects 3 of a possible 4 points at home to keep their dim playoff hopes alive.

Weekly Summary: A disappointing OT loss prevents enjoying the 3 points earned this week. Even after trading Phil Kessel, Jeff Carter, and John Carlson the Mullets continue their prolific scoring. But with their Maginot Line defense, it looks like nothing more than a stat-padding season in Jagr.

Gilbert Sharks
Weekly Summary: Gilbert goes 1-1 at home in Block 10

Brentwood Bandits One home game. Bandits try to keep the ball rolling against Bathgate.
Bathgate Rangers @ Brentwood Bandits Bathgate comes to Brentwood to try to wash the Bandits winning ways down the drain.

Period 1
Crosby starts the scoring off on the PP with his 18th of the season as the “Pens Line” gets the ball rolling. Assisted by Kessel (28) and Guentzel (7).

Period 2
Bandits take a 2-0 lead when El-Nino Niederreiter scores his 14th from Marleau (9) and Phaneuf (11).

Klingberg gets the puck rolling for Bathgate with his 4th of the campaign assisted by Subban (10) and Eriksson (3) to cut the lead in half (Brentwood 2, Bathgate 1)

3rd period
Back and forth. Bathgate throws everything but the bath TUB at Halak but he doesn’t budge. Cammalleri (6) scores from in front of the net with 1:02 left to play.

Bathgate pulls Rinne and after a two missed attempts at an Empty Netter, Bathgate almost makes the Bandits pay by firing 3 quality shots on Halak int he last 30 seconds, but Brentwood holds court and wins 3-1

Weekly Summary: Brentwood wins their only home game this week. So far also won against Jagr (sorry bro). So a good week thus far. Are they Bandits for real? I do believe so. Even though they are still looking to MAYBE make another deal before the deadline. When is the deadline anyway? 🙂

LA Great Danes After last week, the Great Danes moved into the #1 team defense ranking in the league. Two home games this week – versus a Lakeland team that has beat us twice already this year and Pacific foe Gilbert, with each team winning at home in their earlier matchups.
Lakeland Flying Tigers @ LA Great Danes The Danes are the ones getting off to a flying start vs the Tigers in this one as Ryan McDonagh scores 20 seconds into the game. And that’s the game winner as the Danes roll to a 4-0 victory. Alex Chiasson has been solid since being inserted as the 4th line RW, and his first goal of the year extended the lead to 2-0 in P1. A John Carlson PPG and a Mark Scheifele goal gave the Danes the 4-0 lead after 2, and a scoreless third preserved Frederik Andersen’s 4th shutout of the season. 3 Stars were Andersen with 25 saves, McDonagh with 1G-1A, and Scheifele with 1G.
Gilbert Sharks @ LA Great Danes The Great Danes have a strong 1st period with 19 SOG and outchanced Gilbert 8-2, taking advantage of Gilbert penalties – Kesler’s goal came 9 seconds after Gilbert killed off a penalty, Eller’s goal came on a delayed penalty call, and Ehlers scored a PPG to make it 3-0 at the first intermission. But after Scheifele was stopped coming in alone on Ward, the Sharks countered on the rush and MacKinnon beat Andersen to make it a 3-1 game early in the 2nd. But a minute later, the Sharks took another penalty, and Brayden Schenn scored on the PP to restore the 3-goal lead. When Schenn scored again late in period 2 to make it 5-1, Gilbert pulled Ward and replaced him with Tuukka Rask. After Panarin and Pietrangelo traded goals early in the 3rd period, Gilbert once again countered off a Great Dane odd-man rush, and Ryan Spooner made it 6-3 with 13 minutes left. Alex Burrows made it interesting with a Sharks goal at 18:04 to pull within 2, but Ryan Kesler’s 2nd goal of the game into an empty net at 18:53 sealed the 7-4 win for LA.

The Great Danes had a shaky third period, but big offensive nights from a number of players – #1 star Brayden Schenn 2G-2A, #2 star Ryan Kesler 2G/75% FO wins, #3 star Nikolaj Ehlers 1G-1A. And Carlson/Hamilton/Scheifele/Danault all with 2 assists each. An honorable mention for Tim Schaller, inserted into the lineup to rest Tyler Toffoli, won 8/10 FO’s, was +1, and had 3 hits in 10 minutes TOI.

Weekly Summary: The Danes remain hot at home with 2 wins. Mark Scheifele entered the week with an 11-game point streak, and he had points in each of the 2 home games, so we’ll see if he can extend the streak in this week’s road games.

Alamo Defenders A couple Pacific clashes at home for Alamo. They take on 1st place LA
LA Great Danes @ Alamo Defenders #1 and #2 in the Pacific play each other. Andersen in goal for LA, and Lehner in goal for Alamo. Pacioretty (15th) scores the first goal of the game on a tipped in Vlasic shot. After 1 period, Alamo leads 1-0. LA outshoots Alamo 12-10.

In the second period, Plekanec scores his 6th goal of the year for the Defenders. With 1:04 left in the 2nd, Read scores on a power play tip in. Alamo outshoots LA 16-7. At the end of 2 periods, it’s 3-0, Alamo.

3rd period, Vlasic takes a shot and it’s tipped in by Blake Wheeler. Alamo stretches the lead to 4-0. Alamo dominates the 3rd period, and outshoots LA, 15-6.

Alamo wins a big game against LA on a Lehner shutout, 4-0.

Alamo 4 LA 0

1st star – Lehner
2nd star – Vlasic
3rd star – Pacioretty

Wausau Lumberjacks @ Alamo Defenders Wausau comes to Alamo. The first period ended scoreless. The Lumberjacks outshoot Alamo, 13-10 in the period. Jimmy Howard and Ryan Miller looked good in the period.

At 4:20 of the 2nd, Giroux scores on a tip-in for Wausau. Later in the 2nd, Hoffman scores on a rebound and Wausau goes up by 2. Wausau has 11 shots to Alamo’s 6. Very disappointing period for Alamo.

With 35 seconds ago, Wausau scores an empty winner to ensure victory. It’s Dumba scoring his 6th goal for the Lumberjacks.

Alamo has 15 shots in the 3rd, Lumberjacks have 5. But, Jimmy Howard was superb for Wausau.

Wausau 3 Alamo 0

1st star – Howard
2nd star – Dumba
3rd star -Giroux

Weekly Summary: Alamo beats first place LA, 4-0. But, they had a emotional fall, and lose to Wausau, 3-0

Long Beach Ice Dogs
Gilbert Sharks @ Long Beach Ice Dogs After Long Beach jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period, Gilbert chipped away and tied it on Panarin’s second goal of the game 25 seconds into the 3rd period. 5 minutes later Long Beach regained the lead on a goal by Teravainen and held on for the 3-2 win.

Stars:
1. Panarin
2. Savard
3. Marner

Columbus Brew Jackets @ Long Beach Ice Dogs Long Beach is hoping that their recent trade will make them competitive with the elite teams. This game against Columbus will be a good test. It looked bad early on for the home fans as the Brew Jackets jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 1st period on goals by Sheary, Burns & Couture. Something happened in the Ice Dogs dressing room between periods as they came out flying in the 2nd period scoring 4 goals and taking a 4-3 lead. Columbus wouldn’t go away and tied the game 11 minutes into the 3rd. The game went to OT and it appeared that Columbus had won when Couture scored but after review the goal was waved off. Less than 1 minute later, Skinner scored the game winner as Long Beach took this back and forth game with end to end action 5-4.

Stars:
1. Teravainen
2.Couture
3. Gallagher

Weekly Summary: Long Beach picked up 4 points in their 2 home games.

Lakeland Flying Tigers Only one home game for the Flying Tigers this week. VS Brentwood.
Brentwood Bandits @ Lakeland Flying Tigers Lakeland is never really in the game and Brentwood’s firepower was on display in this game…and Jones, the Flying Tigers goalie, was not up to the task.

Brentwood 4, Lakeland 1.

Weekly Summary: No points on the home block this week. Hope for better in the next block.

Bucks County Racoons Two home games which include 1 against a division lead in LA and the 2nds a divisional opponent in Waasua/////
LA Great Danes @ Bucks County Racoons The Bucks County Raccoons score 3 goals in the 3rd period to erase a 2 goal deficit and defeat the LA Great Danes by a score of 5-4. Johansson (12), Schwartz (9) and Kane (7) were the Racs that notched the goals, Kane’s coming with 4:08 left in the 3rd. Mcdavid took home first star of the game with a Goal and 2 assists, Kessler was 2nd star from LA also with a Goal and 2 Assists while Kane notched 3rd star with his GW Goal and also added an assist.
Wausau Lumberjacks @ Bucks County Racoons Looking to use their win in the previous game against LA as a great momentum starter, the Bucks County Raccoons fell flat on their collective faces and were handled by the Wausau Lumberjacks 3-1 in a game that was not that close. Even though they struck 1st to take a 1-0 lead and pumped 50 shots on goal, the Lumberjacks withstood anything that came their way and behind the goaltending of Howard (49 saves, 1st star of the game) came away with the victory. Palat scored 2 of the visitors 3 goals to earn 2nd star, and Zuccarello tallied the 3rd Lumberjack goal to earn 3rd star.
Weekly Summary: A great win against LA to start the week, a disappointing loss to Wausau to end the week leaves the Raccoons with a bad taste in their mouth, which for a raccoon is saying something.

California Regulators
Alamo Defenders @ California Regulators Alamo wins 3-1, our hopes dwindle.
Long Beach Ice Dogs @ California Regulators California drops the 2nd game of the homestand. Long Beach wins 5-2.
Weekly Summary: California drops 2 home games, as expected.

Columbus Brew Jackets Columbus has 1 home game this week as they host the Jagr Mullets
Jagr Mullets @ Columbus Brew Jackets Columbus must have put one of their kegs of beer in the visiting penalty box as the Mulltes spent more time there then they did shooting on net. Columbus entered the 3rd period with a 4-1 lead. Despite two more penalties, Jagr was able to put a scare in the hometown crowd, but Hayes was able to put it away with an empty netter.

Final Score: CBJ 5 – JM 3
Stars: Couture, Hayes, Sheary (all CBJ)

Weekly Summary: Columbus continues to put up great offensive numbers, scoring 5 at home this week.

Bathgate Rangers Bathgate is home for 3 games (even though the games were played in Canada to avoid local crowds mugging the Rangers). But maybe it was a good thing and the fans will be happy to see them at home.

Hosting Columbus, Minneapolis, and Clearfield

Columbus Brew Jackets @ Bathgate Rangers Family rivalry time – often a good thing for the Rangers – and with the Brew Jackets flying high, a good outcome was not expected. But you know, things don’t often go as expected.
Brew Jackets waste little time, Upshall pokes in goal 8 1:31 into the game. Edmunson then gets his 1st of the year 5 minutes later. But in the last minute of the game, Shaw popped in his 2nd of the year to cut the lead.
4 minutes into period 2, Hornqvist steals the puck and goes in for an unassisted goal to the tie it up. Then the see-saw starts. Holden (5) for CBJ, then Karlsson (13) [3-3] then Kucherov (15) then Wood (5) and it’s tied up at 4-4. Wood’s goal was scored with 10 seconds left on the clock. We go to overtime.
Wood likes last minute heroics as he scores his 2nd goal of the game with 48 seconds left in OT to give the Rangers the 5-4 win. Brew Jackets still manage a point out of it.
SOG – even at 33, but Rangers took 60% of the face-offs.
Stars:
1. Wood BGR 2 goals
2. Hornqvist BGR 1 goal 1 assist
3. Holden CBJ 1 goal, 1 assist
Minneapolis Deep Freeze @ Bathgate Rangers Rangers go from hosting a 2nd place team to a 1st place team as the Deep Freeze arrive. First period each team struggles to get pucks past the net but Minneapolis certainly tried hard – 15 shots with good scoring chances, Rinne was up to the challenge – stopping all of them. BOB was pretty sharp for the Deep Freeze, but let an Anderson garbage goal get past at 16:08 and the 1st period ended 1-0 Rangers.
Second period – again the D and goalies were stellar, nothing got past BOB as again the Ranger fired 9 on goal, but none went in. At the 12 minute mark, Aho intecepted a cross ice pass just outside the blue line and took it in a put a move on Rinne to tie up the game.
3rd period, the Rangers stepped up their offense and fired a bunch on BOB and at the 3 1/2 minute mark, Kilorn put one past Bobrovsky for what turned out to be the GWG as the Rangers D (and Rinne) held tough for a 2-1 win.
SOG for game were even at 31, Rangers again won more faceoffs (53%)

Toledo Walleye Toledo (15-17-4) has 3 home games this week. Coming to visit the Fish are New Jersey (17-16-3), and division rival Chicago (14-21-1) and Division Leading Minneapolis (17-15-4). Toledo is 6-3-1 the last 3 games and hopes to continue the upward trend.
New Jersey Grizzlies @ Toledo Walleye Toledo takes leads at 1-0 and 2-1 in the first period, aided by 3 power plays and converting one. Rieder with the PP goal, Perry with the answer by New Jersey, and then Letestu on a breakaway to get the lead back before the first intermission.

New Jersey must have had a good session during the break as Arvidsson scores 2 goals in the first 2 minutes of the 2nd period to take the lead 3-2. The teams mess around for quite a while until Okposo ties the game just before the 2nd intermission. Its now 3-3

The 3rd period sees a bunch of shots take place, Toledo with a bunch more, 21-8, and just as the spectators are thinking about heading up for refills prior to overtime, Sedin lights the lamp with only 46 seconds left to disappoint the home fans and vendors. NJ 4-3 in a heartbreaker.
1st star – Arvidsson 2g 1a
2nd star – Holtby 42 saves
3rd star – Perry 1g (not sure why it wasn’t Sedin for the GWG)

Chicago Cosa Nostra @ Toledo Walleye 1st period results in no scoring but 21 shots on goal. A good period for the goalies.

The 2nd period sees another combined 18 shots on goal with one finding the net, Toledo goes up 1-0 behind a goal by Troy Brouwer who was recently inserted into the lineup for the ailing Kris Versteeg.

The 3rd period has enough activity to get the crowd involved in the game. First Toledo doubles their lead with a goal by van Riemsdyk. 4 minutes later, with things looking down for Chicago, in the midst of a penalty kill, Galchenyuk runs away with a steal and gets a shortie to get Chicago back in the game behind 2-1. A few minutes later, however, with Toledo on another powerplay, the luck turns and Toledo builds the lead back to 2 with a goal by Okposo, who has been pretty productive since coming over in trade. No more powerplays the rest of the period and Toledo thankfully coasts home with the 3-1 win.
1st star – Dell – 29 saves
2nd star – Brouwer 1g
3rd star – van Riemsdyk 1g

Minneapolis Deep Freeze @ Toledo Walleye Those who appreciate good goal tending and defense need go no further. There is nothing to see here.

The visitors leap out to the lead before 60 seconds peel off the clock with Aho getting the first of what will be many goals tonight. Later in the 1st the Walleye respond with goals by Okposo and Green (PP) to take a 2-1 lead to the break.

The pain for Bobrovsky continues in the second with goals by van Riemsdyk and Backstrom to make the lead 4-1. With the crowd demanding the home team go in for the kill, the visitor get 2 quick darts past Dubnyk and the 3 point lead has melted to 1 in less than 2 minutes. Toledo is able to calm things down and with no more scores, the 2nd period ends 4-3 Toledo.

The 3rd period is a tense standoff until a powerplay for the Deep Freeze is successful and Pavelski ties the score 4-4 with 14 minutes left. Less than 1 minute later Mantha breathes life back into the crowd with a goal to go up 5-4. Things a good again in Toledo. But only for 2 minutes as Spezza evens it back up at 5 with 3:30 to go. Both teams get a chance or 2 in the next 2 minutes with some nice back and forth play until van Riemsdyk pops in a zinger with under a minutes left. With the goalie pulled for Minnesota, the ensuing faceoff sees Sutter whack in a one-timer from the neutral zone to finally end the misery for the goaltenders, Toledo 7, Minneapolis 5

Minneapolis Deep Freeze Minneapolis gets 1 home game this week against division rival Bucks County Raccoons.
Bucks County Racoons @ Minneapolis Deep Freeze Bucks County Raccoons (1) @ Minneapolis Deep Freeze (3)

The teams go back and forth to start the game before Palmieri gets called for holding 8 minutes in. The Deep Freeze pepper Allen with shots until Byron (7) fires one from the point to take the 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later, Tkachuk and Lucic drop the gloves, with Tkachuk getting an additional game misconduct. Minneapolis would spend most of the rest of the period short handed courtesy of additional penalties, but Bobrovsky keeps the Raccoons off the board and Minneapolis leads 1-0 at the end of the first period.

Bucks County dominates much of the 2nd period on route to 15 shots (and 9 more blocked by the Deep Freeze). Bobrovsky stands on his head stopping everything that the Raccoons threw at him to keep Minnepolis in the lead.

A short 36 seconds into the third period Minneapolis is back up to no good as Chara gets 4 minutes for checking Keith from behind to put the Raccoons back on the powerplay. Somehow Minneapolis kills off the penalty without their best defender by not allowing a single shot on goal. Bobrovsky stops 12 more shots from Bucks County until they finally get on the board with under 1 minute to go. Schwartz (9) redirects a shot from Kane just past a sprawling Bobrovsky to tie the game. 21 seconds later Hossa (14) splits the defense to give Minneapolis the lead again. Pavelski (14) extends the lead with an empty net goal 5 seconds later and the Deep Freeze lead 3-1 with 32 seconds to go.

Bobrovsky steals a win for Minneapolis in a game where they were outplayed and took way too many penalties, but loses the shutout with under a minute to go.
