LA Great Danes
WEEKLY PREVIEW: One home game this week, against the Bathgate Rangers.
Bathgate Rangers @ LA Great Danes The Danes start well and pretty much dominate the entire game. LA’s 4th line opens the scoring on a Kapanen goal, but give it back when Klingberg scores a shortie for Bathgate. A late crossbar saves the Rangers, and it’s even after one despite a 13-3 scoring chance advantage for LA. Period 2 was more evenly played except on the scoresheet. Drouin scores 50 seconds in and Anderson scores off an odd-man rush, and Bathgate leads 3-1 after 2. Once again, Drouin scores early in a period, this one just 13 seconds into the 3rd on a long slapshot that was not even registered as a scoring chance. While the Danes control play the rest of the way (Bathgate had zero scoring chances in the 3rd), no more scoring and the Rangers come away with the 4-1 road win. Georgiev was the #2 star with 45 saves for the Rangers, with Drouin’s 2 goals giving him the #1 star.

The Great Danes outshoot the Rangers 46-22 and out-chance them 22-8, but a few mistakes and some shaky goaltending from Casey DeSmith result in a 4-1 loss for LA.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: LA already looking ahead to next season. Filip Chytil made his season debut against the Rangers and held his own with a +1 rating and 1 SOG in 10:30 of ice time. A small step, but perhaps it’s the start of Chytl-mania in LA.
Jagr Mullets
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Three games at home this week.
LA Great Danes @ Jagr Mullets The Mullets rest the big guns and it shows – we surrender 6 goals… including a game-tying goal by Schenn at 19:35 of the 3rd. Ouch! We go to OT and Matthew Tkachuk (10) beats Casey DeSmith to pull off the 7-6 thrilling victory. Morgan Rielly shines as Jagr’s #1 defenseman (both Letang and Weber sat this one out), scoring a goal and 4 assists.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: All three games were decided by 1 goal, but in the end we got the 3 W’s and that’s what matters most.
Bathgate Rangers
WEEKLY PREVIEW: In a 1 game homestand this week, Rangers host the Gunners – playing tough in their new Atlantic Division home.
Guentzel Gunners @ Bathgate Rangers 44 seconds in, Drouin scores (seems like he did that stuff on the road this week) getting the home team off fast. But the Gunners get 2 within the next 4 minutes – Guentzel and Wagner. Then the Rangers get 2 – ZBad and Hischier, both within the next 3 minutes. Faksa ties it at 3-3 and we’re not even to the 10 minute mark of period 1! But we are at the end of scoring for the period.
PERIOD 2 – much slower – but Lindholm does get the Rangers back on top with the periods only score.
PERIOD 3 – Guentzel’s Patrick scores at the halfway point to tie it up, but then Anderson, Hertl and Provorov (EN) each score in the final 6 minutes to put it away for a surprising (and enjoyable) 7-4 win!
STARS – all BGR

2. Hischier 1 goal, 1 assist
3. Giroux 3 assists

WEEKLY SUMMARY: Gilbert continues to stink
Guentzel Gunners
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Guenzel is only 2 points back of the division could this give them playoff birth. Guenzel looking to go for the win now rather than rebuild. LAst season Jeremiah First season as GM entered this team without much and decided that he wanted to rebuild but had an amazing start and went for the playoffs and became the 1 seed but lost in 6 games to Toledo in the first round. Will we see a similar fate.

Cincinnati Inferno
WEEKLY PREVIEW: The Cincinnati Inferno continue their chase for the Atlantic Division lead.
California Regulators @ Cincinnati Inferno California pulls out a 5-3 victory.

Cincinnati scores goals on its first three shots over the first 3:09, as Sidney Crosby picked up the first two goals of the night. California had 74 shots attempts and outshot the Inferno, 38-19, for the game.

The Regulators got goals from five different players lit the lamp – netting a lamplighter in the first and a pair in the second. The game winner came earlier in the third period and a late empty netter made it 5-3.

Yellowknife Braves @ Cincinnati Inferno Cincinnati started strong and held on, 5-0.

Brayden Point scored on the first shot of the game and Max Pacioretty had a pair of goals in the victory. Jacob Markstrom turned away all 30 shots in notching his first shutout of the season.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: A split for Cincinnati is not a bad thing.
Brentwood Bandits
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Are the defending Cup champs contenders or pretenders?
Alamo Defenders @ Brentwood Bandits Alamo remembered to bring their A game as former Bandit, Hornqvist, draws first blood. Kerfoot scores his 5th to tie it 1-1 in the 2nd, but the 3rd period was all Alamo with 3 goals! Two from Ekblad and one from Seguin as the Defenders defended their lead and skated to a 4-1 victory of the Bandits.

Lehner made 39 saves. Murray with a start made 37 saves.

Toledo Walleye @ Brentwood Bandits The Walleyes swim into Brentwood and hope to catch the Bandits off guard and steal a win… but the Bandits had other plans.

Anisimov stars the scoring off for Toledo as they take a 1-0 lead into the 2nd. Then Tavares (12), Brodie (3), and Eller (2) all score in the 2nd to put the Bandits up 3-1.

Arvidsson (16) scores on the PP to bring the Walleye within 1, but Galchenyuk gets his 9th to get back to the 2 goal lead.

With the goalie pulled, the Walleye score with 35 seconds left as Rodrigues (3) cuts the lead down to 1 goal, but Vlasic (3) scores the empty netter to seal the deal for the Bandits as everyone in attendance gets a free pickle!!

Binnington saves 40 in a losing cause.

Guentzel Gunners @ Brentwood Bandits Guentzel is gunning for a win at the Brentwood Civic Center, but Horvat (4) scores just 53 seconds into the game, and Tavares (13) tacks one on 36 seconds later to give the Bandits a quick 2-0 lead. In the 2nd, Guentzel pours it on and fires 16 shots at Vasilevskiy, who is up to the task and Galchenyuk (10) puts in one of the (only) five shots the Bandits mustered in the 2nd frame.

To the 3rd where Guentzel again fires 16 at Vasilevskiy, who turns them all away. Galchenyuk (11) pours salt into the open wound as the Bandits steal a win from Guentzel as we only managed 18 shots to the Gunners 39.

The difference seemed to be where the shots came from as the Bandits had more scoring chances (11-9) despite being heavily out-shot.

Holtby looked a shadow of his former self making only 14 saves in the loss as Vasilevskiy gets his 1st shutout of the season.

WEEKLY SUMMARY: 3 home games, 2 wins… 4 points. We’ll take it.

When asked about the division lead and the playoffs, coach Tom Atkins just stared down the reporter until they sat down and curled up into the fetal position. Rumor has it that the reporter has since taken a job driving for Uber.

Bucks County Raccoons
WEEKLY PREVIEW: Bucks County looking to solidify their division lead versus two teams below the Mendoza line as far as points are concerned.
Bathgate Rangers @ Bucks County Raccoons The Raccoons score on the power play 28 seconds into the 2nd period to take a 2-0 lead and then check the game away. Bathgate scores mid way through the 3rd but the BC defense does it’s job to secure a 2-1 win. Bucks County wins 68.9% of the face offs in the game.
Lafayette Homesteaders @ Bucks County Raccoons Scoreless through 2 and then Duschene gives the visitors the lead 1 minute into the 3rd period. Kevin Hayes ties it up with 5 minutes to go and it looks like we’re headed to OT, but Erik Karlsson scores with exactly 1 minute to go and Lafayette gets the W, 2-1. Both goalies were on their games in this one.
WEEKLY SUMMARY: Offense takes a small hiatus for the home team, but the defense does it’s job and gets the split of the home games this week.
Toledo Walleye
WEEKLY PREVIEW: The Walleye (9-10-0) host Cincinnati (9-8-3) and Thunder Bay (12-7-0).
Cincinnati Inferno @ Toledo Walleye Toledo 4, Inferno 3 – Toledo opens up the scoring with Krejci getting his 3rd of the season. 5 minutes later Crosby ties it up with a little over 6 minutes to go in the 1st. Finally, late in the period, Krejci gets his 2nd of the game, again assisted by JVR, and the period ends 2-1 Walleye.

In the 2nd, The teams play even, and hold the line, until penalties come into play. The Inferno play the price for penalties by Skinner and Suter, as Rodriguez and Connolly each net one on the power play. 2nd period ends 4-1 Toledo.

The Inferno turns the tables in the last period, first with Point getting his 13th of the season on a penalty by Severson. Midpoint of the period Gallagher closes the lead to 1 with an even strength goal. The Walleye circle the wagons and hold off the attackers the final 9 minutes to escape with the win, 4-3.

1st star – Krejci 2G
2nd = Point 1G 2pts
3rd – Rodriguez 1G

Thunder Bay NorWesters @ Toledo Walleye NorWesters 6, Walleye 1 – Thunder Bay opens up the scoring with Bertuzzi getting the goal just over 3 minutes in. The Walleye quickly respond on a powerplay as Edmundson scores to make it 1-1. After that, its all NorWesters as the Walleye throw a lot of rubber at Rinne, but he ends up stopping 37 of the 38 shots. On the other side, Dubnyk continues to struggle and lets a total of 6 get by. Athanasiou, Bertuzzi, Nyquist, Smith, and O’Reilly pile it on leaving the home crowd feeling shell shocked.

1st star – Bertuzzi 2G 3pts
2nd – Rinne 37 saves
3rd – Nyquist 1G 2pts

WEEKLY SUMMARY: A narrow win, followed by a thorough thumping is a clear sign that Toledo has not found the right strategy to get out of the division cellar. Stay tuned for more changes.
Charlotte Buzzards
WEEKLY PREVIEW: It’s never easy contending in the uber competitive Atlantic division but the Charlotte Buzzards attempt to stay relevant early in the season. The squad hosted three non-division games in its latest stretch, versus Gilbert, Bathgate and California.
Gilbert Sharks @ Charlotte Buzzards The Sharks bit the Buzzards and Carey Price by seizing a 4-0 lead and held off a late rally effort to take this one 5-4. Goals by Victor Hedman, the mayor of Pominvlle, TJ Oshie and Max Domie give Gilbert the four goal cushion by three minutes left to play in the second period. Charlotte fought back with three unanswered third period goals to make it close — two from defensemen Tyler Myers and Brent Burns and one from league leading goal scorer Joe Pavelski — that cut the lead to 4-3. Gilbert’s Cam Atkinson slammed the door shut, however, with a goal with 59 seconds left. Buzzards defenseman Travis Hamonic answered on a “too little too late” goal from the point with 35 seconds to play. For his part, Tuka Rask finished with an astonishing 45 saves to turn away Charlotte (which outshot Gilbert 49 to 28), but Hedman, Pominville and Atkinson were named the first thru third stars respectively.
Bathgate Rangers @ Charlotte Buzzards This comeback effort for Charlotte was successful as the Buzzards erased a 3-1 second period deficit with six unanswered goals en route to a 7-5 win. Impressively, seven different players scored for Charlotte — 5 forwards and 2 defenseman. Brett Burns, Mitch Marner and Joe Pavelski who were each among the goal scorers, were Stars 1 thru 3. Charlotte outshot Bathgate 39-29.
California Regulators @ Charlotte Buzzards The fast-starting Regulators were sparked by first star Phillipp Grubauer, who shined in the net with 32 saves as California prevailed over the Buzzards 3-1. Jonathan Huberdeau, the second-star for California, eliminated a 1-0 deficit with a game tying goal 2:17 into the second period, and early third period goals by Johnny Gaudreau and Ryan Getzlaf put California over the top.
WEEKLY SUMMARY: A microcosm of its season, the Dynamo fire 121 freakin shots in these three home games (more than 40 shots per game) and come up with just two points to show for it. In conjunction with respectable defense and goalie play, this team has just not got its share of pucks bouncing its way early in the season.
California Regulators
WEEKLY PREVIEW: California hosts Central-leading Bucks County in its only home game this week.
Bucks County Raccoons @ California Regulators The Raccoons fall to the Regulators 2-1 in a close one.
WEEKLY SUMMARY: California wins its only home game.

NO RESULTS FROM LAFAYETTE
